Not being one to delve into computer programs unless I have good instruction I have a question. How can you add to the default list of aircraft call signs in the aircraft detail segment of changing an aircraft in FSX? The default list is somewhat uninspiring.

Hi Ian,

To add a new call sign to the default list of aircraft call signs, go to: Computer > Local Disc > Program files (x86) > Microsoft games > Microsoft flfight simulator X > airlines.cfg , and add the new one.

Beyond that, be sure to change the old call sign, at: Computer > Local Disc > Program files (x86) > Microsoft games > Microsoft flfight simulator X > SimObjects > Airplanes > [Airplane model] > aircraft.cfg , e.g., as shown below:

Remarks:

1) If you are a W7 user, open the files "AS ADMINISTRATOR", or you will not be able to save the changes.

2) I don't know the reason, but sometimes FS system doesn't accept the changes you did.

Are you sure that it is the FS system not accepting your changes? Or is it that those call signs may not be included in the ATC voice pack?
Sometimes if you don't add it correctly, it isn't accepted. I think it's could be like this "speed bird" is accepted, but "speedbird" is not (or the other way around, I'm not sure at the moment). Do you get my meaning?

When I first got the CS 757 I looked up all the airline call signs and added them to the ones that weren't there. In the end, most still weren't working. Next I added them to the list in the airlines.cfg in FSX root folder and they still weren't working. I never tried it again after that.

All you need to do to change the aircraft call signs an easier name is to go to the FSX main directory, scroll down until you see the notepad file called "airlines", open it, and add or delete callsigns. It's so simple.
