For you NNewcomb, I hope American can be the launch customer, and take the first delivery of the 737-7 737-8 or 737-9 even, whichever they wish. I hope they can begin making money again. Its a cool plane, Delta's got orders for the 737-900ER with the CFM LEAP-X engines, although it isn't officially the 737-9 yet.

Although the 737 MAX is basically a re-engined 737NG, it isn't much of an all-new airplane. The 737-900ER/737-9 isn't really that much of a 'replacement' for the 757. Its a much older design, and the 737-900ER is underpowered when compared to the 757-200. Yeah it can hold similar passengers, the 757's design is superior. The 757's higher stance allows for normal nacelles, rather than 'squished' ones as on teh NG and Classic 737s. It has the redesigned front-end, which allows for a quieter sound. The 707-737's front end gets very cold when you're flying, even with heat on, and the 757's cockpit area is a finer improvement. Too bad Boeing got cheap and went with the 737 rather than the 757. Lets hope it surpasses the Airbus A320neo though!
