Title: Not a rant, but need help. Post by thesultanofscud on May 24th, 2011 at 2:47pm
Does anyone know if the TCE programs for CS FS9 aircraft actively "hijack" the aircraft.cfg file?
I really want to change the name of my CS aircraft. It looks downright lame to look up an aircraft by manufacturer and see "Captain Sim" where I should see "Lockheed" or "Boeing". I also wanted to edit a panel for for my own use alone...(no intention of distributing against copyright) But it seems as though the TCE oversteps my panel mods! Any programmers here or CS representatives? I love the aircraft I have, but I'm afraid the inability to alter or fix these things is a deal-breaker that will prevent me from justifying buying newer CS stuff. Thanks in advance. |

The only thing I can think of doing, is editing the aircraft.cfg and change it from "Captain Sim" to "Lockheed" or "Boeing". I doubt that the TCE hijacks the aircraft.cfg, but it might reset it once you change things. See if there is an INI file in the folder where the TCE is located you can try editing that. If information is stored in the TCE.exe itself, I doubt that the changes would hold, because every time you click on save, it would change it back. :( With the panel.cfg, make a backup of the modified panel.cfg, TCE could be doing the same with that as it is with the aircraft.cfg file. INI file?! I don't seem to have it. What version of CS Legendary 104 are you using?
I was able to make all this happen back in 08. I was able to make the changes and retain the performance editing of the TCE. I just wish I could remember what I did. Thanks for the replies...I'll check back. |

Sorry. I don't have CS Legendary 104. I no longer have FS9 installed on my computer. I was just giving some ideas of what might help you. For my CS FSX add-ons, I edit the aircraft and panel config files and make a backup of the changed file so that if ACE reverts it, I can quickly change it back to the way I want them. Mark |
