I'll back you up on that!
I tried editing the aircraft.cfg, [TurbineEngineData] fuel_flow_gain=0.0022 inlet_area=15.000 rated_N2_rpm=10095.000 static_thrust=18963.000 afterburner_available=0 reverser_available=1 //0 but that didn't get it working either. Mark |

The E-3 does not have reversers from what I recall

It sure looked like that one didn't have reversers. I guess that means Captain Sim got it right. Mark |

I think the military guys often don't install thrust reversers (they even uninstall them sometimes) unless they really, really need them. Might be a cost/inspection time aspect and yes, the E-3 does not come with such things in rw (from my knowledge).
Since the payload and passenger load on the E-3 doesn't really get high (or changes like on a Freighter or Passenger Transport), the only big load will be the fuel while those planes operate from very sufficient runway bases. But that's just guesswork of mine, never mind. :) So, in my eyes, Mark is perfectly right with applauding to the fact that CS modelled this "lack". |

Technically speaking, approach shouldn´t have been tried in the first place, if the calculated stopping distance exceeds 60 percent of the effective runway length. Reversers are considered INOP in calculations.
But everything can be tried in the simulator and military personnel are military personnel. :D |

No E-3 Sentry's do not have TR in real life (like the KC-135 idk about other Military 707 mods) maily because they are too heavy! But I do know this the E-6 Mercury does in fact have them on their planes. :) (I would know...*in a sarcastic tone* huh, probably because I live 30 mins away from Tinker AFB...lol

Those military runways are pretty long....

I piloted the E-3 Sentry during the period 1980-83 and can assure you there are no thrust-reversers on the real jet . We control runway length with pre-planning, plus we have large brakes and tires (due to our foot-print) and we have have inflight refueling to control fuel weight, making runway length not an issue. Attached is a copy of the cockpit, showing no thrust-reverse levers on the throttles.

I included the cockpit photo in my previous message (above) to show you that the thrust levers are "bare" with no reverser levers attached.

In FAA certification the reverse thrust is not considered in the calculations. It's just something extra in case you need it! 8-)
