Title: The Sopwith Camel
Post by pj747 on Mar 6th, 2011 at 10:22pm
An aircraft quite regrettably ignored by the Flight Simulation world has been the great Sopwith Camel. One of the best fighters of WWI, credited with shooting down the red baron, and one of the Allies' best fighters, alongside the Nieuport 17. This would be an wesome airplane if created by Captain Sim, great flying dynamics and aerobatic ability, nice speed, and open cockpit. As well as a challenging rotary engine for the  team. We would all love to see more WWI fighters and the Sopwith Camel is the quniessential one. There are several still in existance and several flying replicas, that are very accurate. It could help Captain Sim branch out their product line.

I think that MS dropped the Sopwith Camel from Flight Sim around the time of FS2002. Before that, it was in every version from SUBLogic Flight Simulator II and above. I know it was in FS98, not sure if it was still there in FS2000. And I'm not going to install it to see if it is. ;)

It would be fun to have an accurate one...

Captain Sim seems to be into complex aircraft, but then again, the Camel is something that they could quickly crank out, and it would still be great!

They did the Yak-3 and that's relatively simple. Plus, they could charge a slightly lower price, but as a best seller it could be they'd get their effort's worth.

Very true. I totally agree.
