Title: Re: Fuel Dump Post by Markoz on Mar 6th, 2011 at 1:20pm
The change with the way the 707 shuts down after altering the fuel via the menu, is new. It didn't happen with v1.2. I was in flying low and slow (5000ft and 230knots) when I change the amount of fuel. I did it the way I used to in v1.2. Shock! Horror! Engines #1 and #4 failed because the Center, Right and Left fuel tank pumps were turned back on after the changes were made. I had just emptied those tanks and so had turned them OFF prior to making the change (in readiness for what would have happened in v1.2). I could not figure out, for almost 5 minutes, why my engines just would not restart.
I haven't tried the Fuel Dumping, but there is an entry in the aircraft.cfg that deals with how fast fuel is dumped. [fuel] fuel_type=2 number_of_tank_selectors=4 electric_pump=0 fuel_dump_rate=0.0004 <- This one here. From the SDK - fuel_dump_rate - Percent of fuel that can be dumped per second. That is 0.0004% per second. This means it will take 25000 seconds to dump ALL your fuel. That's 4166.67 minutes or 69.44 hours which sounds a little unrealistic, considering the 767 can't even remain airborne that long, if in flight, unless it's a military jet with refueling capabilities. You might want to try a setting of 0.04 as that will take 41 minutes to dump 100% of your fuel. How realistic that setting is, I think we'll have to wait for Lou's input on it. Mark [edit]Do not use 0.04! It emptied all my fuel in about 5 seconds. I went from 93% to 0% in almost the blink of an eye! Leave it set to 0.0004 it works quite well if you use the fuel dump correctly.[/edit] |
