Uninstalling and reloading did the trick, with the following exception - the target symbol still does not appear over the loaded aircraft.

I guess I'll just have to trust that the wepaons load went ahead.

One peculiar thing, though: when I brought down my first aircraft, a learjet, I had a feeling that I had done something reprehensible. I suppose that testifies to the depth of immersion/realism in the sim.

I'll look for military targets from now on (I promise!  ;). In the meantime let me say that I like this addition to the flight simming experience and I would support its further development.
