Title: Re: 747-8i and Airbus A380 for FSX Post by pj747 on Feb 27th, 2011 at 2:02pm
You know the Airbus A380 shouldn't be in existance. The market, yet doesn't demand that many seats, and thats at least 15 years away. Only during the Olympic Games can they fill seats. See, Airbus is subsidized by the french government, their land was just handed to them on a siver platter, very expensive land that, similar Boeing fought for. They artificially stimulated Airbus (French Government) to go from a product the size of the A340 to the A380, skipping to a level, nearest of the Antonov An-225. If Airbus had what Boeing had (at their level of company existence) the A380 would never have been done. They say they'll break even at 390 planes, which orders are currently at 244. And not going up. However, the 747-8 will be more successful, as the other airlines still have 747-400s they can keep running, and are waiting for 'white tails' or when Boeing has begun full-scale production, to begin their orders. As well as many airlines don't want double-deckers and are looking at the 777-300 and 747-8 the latter being for high-density long-range routes. Plus the 747-8 is 16% more effecient, 16% greener, and costs 30% less to maintain the the 747-400. It is easily integrated, as it can fit in to existing 747-400 fleets, requiring different engien maintainence (less of it) and teh same exact cockpit, minus some colors.
