Title: Hello everyone! Post by Vlado on Jan 24th, 2011 at 3:45pm
Greetings!
My name is Vladimir, and I want to introduce myself to everyone here. I am born 1954 in the old ex- Yugoslavia. I have been a MiG-21 pilot for many years. Also in the Yugoslavian war that broke out in the early 90's. After the war, I was flying cargo aircraft for the military a couple of years. And after that, I moved out from Yugoslavia, and now living in Sweden. I am no longer able to fly real aircrafts. So this is where Flight Simulator comes into my life, and helps me to keep air under my wings. 8-) Thank you for reading this, and always fly safe my comrades! |

Welcome, Vlado. Seems like you are a veteran of some kind then.
Which planes do you prefer in the sim then? |

Ah-h-h. Mig 21's. Always one of my greatest concerns when I was flying B-52's in the way back days!
Welcome aboard! |

Thank you CoolP.
Yes I have also been test pilot for Serbian military. But I am afraid I cannot say more than that about this subject. It is very confidential. To be able to have information like this, you must have access to high securety levels in the military "tree" of ranks.. But sometimes not even a top class general knows about things from the testing squadron, for example. I prefer to fly commercial aircraft, and piper/cessna's, when I just want to relax and enjoy some scenery in flight sim X. I also like to perform and create emergency situations in commercial aircraft, resolve the problems and feel how the aircraft respond to different type of commands. Thank you also Oliveone! Ohh very nice, B-52's. Those are very sophisticated and dangerous aircraft. ::) I remember when NATO prohibited serbian military to use any type of aircraft at all. They said if we get airborn, they will not hesitate to shoot us down. But what they have forgot, is that we was using MiG-21's, and this aircraft is so difficult to keep up with and even try to shoot down. If you become a good friend with a MiG-21, and really get the feeling of its dynamics. Then you will soon realize how incredible and how much you can trust this aircraft. Well I have many both good and bad experiences from the early 90's in the yugoslavian war. But war is never good, we should instead keep focus on how to make better future and release technologys to the public, that I know military keep secret! I know that for a fact, because I have seen it. Our civilization would benefit so much from this. |

I agree with your comments regarding war. Despite my advanced years I haven't figured why we spend so much fighting each other. As engineeer I think war machines are fascinating but effects are too sad to recall.
Regarding secrets: There were some things pilots could know and not tell other crew members and vice-versa. Everything was need-to-know, and the powers were watching. I remember one excellent crew member who was transferred out of SAC because he took a classified document home to study and it was discovered in his dresser drawer! How did that happen?? I sold my planes and quit flying 5 years ago: too expensive and too troublesome (regulations etc) that I got tired of after 50 years. Ilove flight sim because I can do almost all the brain work, see the scenery, and I don't have to preflight in a parka in winter or my underwear in summer. (and I never found a snake in my BUFF Driver) Also, when I screw up I don't have to worry about the FAA or StanEval: I just push re-start! Cheers! |

Vlado, Добродошли
I hope you enjoy flying around with us here at Captain Sim. I flew for TWA for 35 years, and in 2001 American Airlines bought TWA, so I flew the last 5 years as an American pilot. The folks here at CS and the people on this forum are a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy it here. Lou |

Vlado, welcome aboard. It is always nice and useful to have real pilots with us. A lot of experience in real world is priceless.

I think my ego got knocked down a few notches after reading this topic. Anyways, thank you all for your service, no matter what country (or airliner, in LOU's case. That's still hard work). :)
