Title: 707 Taxi Power
Post by Van Isle Pilot on Jan 4th, 2011 at 5:06am
Hey guys,

I've noticed a little quirk in the taxi characteristics that has popped up for me. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence that I noticed it after installing UT2.

Whenever I begin taxi after pushback, all appears to be normal in getting the 707 rolling, but if I brake the aeroplane on the ground and come to a full stop, the taxi power required to get going again is almost triple what was required initially.

Anybody experiencing the same thing? It also happens with the 763.

Running Win 7 64-bit.

I've always found this to be the case with all FS jets and turbine-powered aircraft. I figured it was just that you have to apply more thrust to get moving from a standing start (overcoming inertia and all that) than to continue moving once you're already in motion. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how it's always been for me anyway.

You definitely do need to apply more thrust to get rolling... that is indeed the case. It's just that I find when I stop after rolling, the power required to get rolling again is much much more than what was required initially, it's as if the plane now has substantially more mass

I have just tried the 707 at moderate gross weight and find no problem with break-away thrust on the CS 707.

In the past I did have a problem with dragging brakes.

I went into the controls section and put in a little null and
that seems to have fixed the problem.

Check the lower left part of the screen to see if it shows the word brake or differential brakes.
