The course and headings settings are uncontrollable. Tune a VOR and try to set the course on the HSI and the indicator keeps rotating and will not lock onto a course to the VOR. Same  problem with heading settings .

Try shorter taps on the mouse button.

It seems if you hold down too long on the mouse button the knob does take off and spin fast.

I use a few clicks on the mouse to move either knob to where I want it to be rather than a longer hold on the rodent button.

Try that and see if it works better.
