Title: panel retrofit for Integrated Simavionics (ISG1) Post by Benzinger on Dec 13th, 2010 at 3:50pm
Captains,
I wonder if anyone might do a panel retrofit for this wonderful bird to make use of Ernie Alston's integrated simavionics (ISG1 - payware) gauges set, esp. for an easier navigation (yes, I know it's somewhat cheating but I think a lot of these old birds experienced some kind of retrofit over the decades). As I am a complete greenhorn in editing .cfg-files, I searched the web for this but I was not lucky so far. Any chance for me? Greetings from Bavaria Stefan P.S.: I set this post in the 707-forum also |

I think the hardest part is going to be finding someone who actually has Ernie Alston's integrated simavionics (ISG1 - payware) gauges set AND integrated it into the 727.
A good program (unfortunately it's payware) is FS Panel Studio. You can open the panel.cfg with it, highlight a gauge and select "swap" which would then allow you to choose one of Ernie Alston's gauges. I don't know how it will look, Captain Sim's gauges are made to fit in the 3D models they create. Your workaround would be to create a 2D Cockpit for both the 727 and 707 and use Ernie Alston's gauges on that. Mark |

Well I have the ISG1 pack, and I use it in a A300-B4 retrofit panel. Unfortunately, I lack the time and the know-how of editing panel.cfg-files, so I am looking for someone who has done the job already. If there should no one be out there, I will spend my chrismas holiday for a try (the 727 first). But why should we invent the wheel for a second time (as we say in germany)?
Greetings Stefan |

I saw Stefan's post on the ISG forum and gave it "the old college try."
I placed a glass HSI in the VC with a reuse of the GPS popup window to trigger a single window containing both the MCU and HSI controller - http://fsbuild.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1689&p=14081&sid=e6ff938f0928c9aef0e2d17483bc8933#p14081 The popups' positioning could be improved upon with no doubt, and I've since separated the MCU and the HSI controller into two popups on my system. But it's something.... :-/ Regards, |

Hey, that's great news :)!
Will give it a try right now, and thank you for posting. Regards Stefan 2 days later: after a couple of flights: it works great! Thanks again. |
