Hi Jeff.
You need to edit the CS 707-300 aircraft config file so you will no longer be flying an "Experimental". This is how it is in the default aircraft.cfg file: [General] performance= atc_type= atc_model= Category=airplane This is what you need to change it to: [General] performance=See Flight Manual <- I just added that because I wanted to. atc_type=BOEING atc_model=B707 Category=airplane Mark |

That's okay Nathan. I had to read it a few times to figure out what he was on about.
I actually figured that one out on my computer on the day I installed v1.2 and so I had not heard it for so long that I had to think hard as to why it would do that. I always spend the first few hours after installing a new addon aircraft making small changes to suit me. Besides. To err is human. ;) Mark |

edit voice pack x sorts out the call sign's but you have to do some cuting and pasting

I thought you do that to add new atc_airline, ui_manufacturer, atc_type and atc_model into the voice pack. Mark |

Yes, I had the same problem and changed the aircraft.cfg file as you said, but ATC only ever identifies me as "Boeing", and not "Boeing 707" - I had the same problem with the 727 Captain too.

Hi, as said above: 1. Get EditVoicePackX (and understand how to use it) 2. add entries in "Aircraft"->"Model" for "B727" and "B707" (this one works only if you changed the aircraft.cfg as described above, B727 works by default) 3. apply the changes! => DONE! Merry Xmas, Stefan |

Markoz please help ?

I'm not a PC tech champ.I am trying to do a/m instruction but where exactly is the aircraft.cfg file in CS707 ? If I want to open a random cfg file, which program do I have to use to overwrite the file ? Thanks kind help ;) Jan Koppen Schiphol/Amsterdam |

Hi Jan,
The aircraft.cfg is located in the following location depending on where you installed it. If you did the default installation it will be in: c:\program files\microsoft games\flight simulator x\simobjects\aircraft\cs707_320 there you will find an aircraft.cfg file and you can open it by using notepad. change the atc_type to BOEING and you be fine. |

Hi Jan.
Try copying the aircraft.cfg file to your desktop, then open it, edit it and save it. Now copy the cone from the desktop into your CS_B707-300 folder and allow it to overwrite the on already in there. Hope this helps. Mark |

Thanks MarkOZ. Was in San juan and was wondering why ATC told the inbound C-130 to go around due to experimental on the runway.

Jan -
Your problem may be the way NOTEPAD saves a text file the first time it sees it. If a cfg file is not set to be recognized, opened and saved as an ANSI / *all files*, it will try to save it as a .txt file. That is why FSX may not read it. Try saving it as "SAVE AS", aircraf.cfg, make sure the ANSI and *all files* options are selected. Also, change your WINDOWS file association for all .cfg files to NOTEPAD. The above is a common mistake - |

To do this, when you click on the CFG file, make sure that the option to Always use selected program to open this kind of file is checkmarked (the box is ticked). before clicking on OK. |

Title: Re: ATC Calls me 'experimental' Post by Leonardo on May 11th, 2013 at 4:21am
Hello
This is what you need to put into your CFG. [General] performance= atc_type=BOEING atc_model=B703 Category=airplane It should be marked as B703 as the ICAO Code for this type of aircraft, all variants from 707 Captain actually, that way it will identify you as a Boeing 707 Heavy. 707 is the type rating necessary to fly the craft not the ICAO you use to file a flight plan and used by ATC also to identify the Wake turbulence and maneuvering profiles. |
