Can I get some input from Lou or other real-world 727 drivers on the CS 727's stopping distance?

Seems to stop a little too quickly on landing. Are the brakes/reverse thrust too effective or am I just too accustomed to the heavier jets I've been flying lately?

Yep, I asked same thing time ago. Normally it is not necessary to use breaks, with reverse and spoilers is enough to have taxi speed. I really don't think this is normal.  >:(

I believe the effectiveness of the reversers can be edited in the aircraft.cfg file. The reverser_available variable is not just on or off -- it is a scalar where 0 is no effect at all and 1 is the default value.

Michael, yes I believe you are right. The trick is figuring out how much to 'derate' it by :)

I suppose it doesn't matter much how quickly you can stop on landing, since virtually all planes require more runway to take off again anyway!

The CS 727 seems to me to stop pretty close to what I remember.

Most of the time landing at normal domestic weight, lets say 120,000 to 125,000 pounds, the 727 would stop with spoilers and reverse and just a light bit of brake at the end of the roll out. In fact the spoilers and reverse do the most good if deployed on touchdown. Application of brake was avoided above 100 kts unless needed. The old style blocker doors worked better than the cascade vanes, but the door failure rate was high. The 727 had nose wheel brakes, but they were seldom used and were taken off to save weight.
