Title: B-52 Captain or Driver?
Post by Captain Sim on Nov 17th, 2010 at 3:55pm
Gents-
The B-52 full pack is coming soon. We've got a little inhouse discussion (fight) on how to name the product?

B-52 Captain (traditional CS name)
or
B-52 Driver (gives some military flavor)

Please vote.

B-52 Driver, although I would prefer B-52 Pilot.

Take in consideration that in the USAF, Captain is a rank and it not necessarily refers to the pilot in command. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Your right about calling them pilot, although we maintainers sometimes have other names for them... ;D

How about BUFF Captain? Pays homage to both captain sim and the pilots that flew them...

I agree with the above.... call it B-52 BUFF. But if I have to pick from either Driver or Captain I think Captain works better.

I believe, although in the military it may be referred to "Driver", I believe the term "Captain" is product specific and describes to the customer what level of detail the product has.
I don't know if someone purchasing the product would understand the distinction of "Driver" and may think it is a different level of product similar to an "entrance level".
Although it's not exclusive, a "Captain" (rank) could be the pilot of this aircraft. So it's not out of place, but may serve describing the product better.

Thank you all! Time is over (we got to pack the thing and release!)

As per the poll resuls we will keep the original B-52 Driver name.

Military pilots never refer to themselves as Captains, only drivers.
