Title: Why no Russian aircraft? Post by mattnoakes on Nov 7th, 2010 at 4:04am
First, let me say thank you for asking my opinion.I'm not sure it will make a difference, but, I will give it anyway.I noticed most people are requesting Boeing, Airbus and Military aircraft. These have been represented more than adequately by many different addon companies. Will Captainsim PLEASE do a Russian aircraft! Who better than Captainsim.I have been using your addons since the "Legendary" series, and I have never been disappointed.Russian aircraft have a completely different character and soul.Nobody else is developing Russian aircraft addons,so you would have that market niche to yourself. Sincerely, Matthew.
my top 3 picks are as follows: 1) Antonov An-24 series (NATO - COKE) especially the RV with 2,000lb. thrust auxilliary turbojet in the starboard nacelle. 2) Antonov An-22 (NATO - thingy) 3) Antonov AN-2 (NATO - COLT) |

Although a Russian aircraft is a great idea. Captain Sim realism means the gauges will be in Russian, and although I would do my best to figure it out, I know it wouldn't be easy. But not everyone will want to do that either. My guess is that Captain Sim know that sticking to Western aircraft will probably generate more sales. Which is what I think Alex means in his statement: got to think commercially.

I agree!!!! There are so many great russian airliners and no one has done one for FSX yet! Many of them are still used today by airlines in europe/asia/africa. I would love to see a tu 134/154 or IL 76/86/96 maybe even the AN225 with CS quality! my flight sim is saturated with boeing and airbus aircraft!!It seems like everybody is working on the same aircrafts!

I will try to mention a few other things without breaking any rules,i.e. not mentioning other developers.I don't know why that is a rule,I thought this was a "community" website meaning the "flightsim community", which would include competetors.Anyway, there is a PAYWARE Ilyushin IL-96 for FSX.It is an AI-aircraft addon with a flyable model.A PAYWARE Yakovlev YAK-52 for FSX has been done. Also, there was a FREEWARE Antonov An-24 series for FS2004.they had Russian gauges, although I am not sure about the coding or realism or whatever, but they were great to fly in FS and the gauges were easy to figure out. With Boeing & Airbus we seem to be beating a dead horse, but from a business or "commercial" stanpoint I guess it's not dead as long as you know you will still generate sales. It is nice to dream though and a fully developed Russian aircraft seems to be just that, A DREAM!

a good Ilyushin commercial AC CS style would be a good idea..
