Do you have 707 Vref and VApp calculation chart?
Thanks
Sanal

Mark,
Thanks for the link. Downloaded and quick reviewed. I cannot find the page regarding Vref and Vapp speed chart.

In 727-100 V speed landing chart  gives Gross weight and correlated Ref Speed forFlap Settings 30 and 40.

I wonder if page is missing.

Regards
Sanal

It is called different things. If you look in the "707limitations.pdf" you will find "TRESH" speeds, Vth, at different weights (page 10). These are your Vref speeds.

In the document called "707limitations.pdf" you find the calculation of "Programmed Speed, Vprog" on page 11. This describes how to apply wind additives to Vth.

In the same document, on pages 16-22 you find profile descriptions of various types of approaches. These profiles reference Vth and Vprog.

So all the speeds you need are indeed in the package.

Thank you :)

Sorry but could I ask you how this works.

On page 10 of limitations, the column I am looking at is THRESH speeds and they must be for approach? because they just list weight and 50 and 40 degrees flaps.
So if this is right and useing the top graph (300B)a weight of 240,000 LB is a touch down speed @50 flaps of 146 IAS.

Is that right?
Take off V1 Vr V2 I found on performance2 page 6  :)

thx

Yes, that is right. You typically add 5 knots to the speeds in the table to compensate for wind. (If you have more than 10 knots headwind when lainding, you would add half the headwind - never less than 5 knots, and never more than 20 knots).

thank you trisager,
Now I know why she was a bit wobbly on GS auto, I was flying at around 135 IAS and trying to land around 120 ::)

Even before I got my hands on the charts, I was landing at 140-150 KIAS. I still do. Any slower and she feels too heavy and less controllable. It's probably just my driving though.

Title: Can I ask, too?

I was just wondering if there is any tool included with this release to calculate v-speeds, power settings, etc. I didn't see any tables in the documentation.

If not, maybe something from the FS9 release of the 707 ... (I checked that forum, but couldn't find anything).

Thanks,
Tom

No there isn't. I've looked up some info at the Boeing site and downloaded a pdf with a lot of info on the 707. I haven't finished looking through it yet, so I don't know if it gives that info. I'm hoping it does. I forgot that I downloaded it because I've been flying the 707 too much! ;D

Mark

EDIT: I got it HERE.

Thanks for the link, Mark. Some good info on range and takeoff/landing runway length requirements, but not power settings or speeds, unfortunately.

Thanks again,
Tom

Hi Tom,

Matt Zagoren made performance charts a long long time ago.
You can download them from AVSIM library.

Search for 707perf.zip

I copied some tables to word document, saved that as reference.htm, copied it to CS707 folder and added it to aircraft.cfg as reference. I am saving the paper and so our woods :)

See if you can take off at 275,000 gross at the recommended VR speed (137) with anything less than 2.0 EPR.  I don't know that trying to fly exactly by the numbers is going to be a satisfying experience, but I'm open to persuasion.  Not that I care; I think there are other things to enjoy with this aircraft.  I'm just saying it might be frustrating.  What do you think?

I think different people enjoy different aspects of the sim. Personally I'm totally into the systems side - I like to know what is the "right" way of doing things, and I like to plan and execute accordingly.

Whether or not the airplane actually flies exactly on the numbers or not is not all that important to me (as long as it is not completely off). The size of the gauges and the accuracy of my hardware throttle means that trying to set EPR with accuracy to the second decimal is impossible anyway. I just enjoy it more if I know that I'm shooting for 1.84 EPR when setting takeoff power ...

I know that a lot of people couldn't care less, they just want to enjoy flying the thing. I respect that, it just doesn't work for me.
