Title: UNCLEAR WHAT TO BUY Post by camaflight on Aug 19th, 2010 at 9:39pm
Hello,
Finally, for some months ago I was ready to enviden my AC-range with the B757. I started to look at the CaptainSim 757-family. However, I did not understand the contents of each BLOCK. OK; base-pack-this is required I suppose (not clear when reading the product descriptions in Simmarket). Expansion pack 753, which I assume has a BLOCK # (no idea which though), is of course the 757-300 - no problem understanding that. The same goes for the freighter expansion (BLOCK ??). I want to buy all that. Then, BLOCK F; it's a photo of an FMS, but what exactly is BLOCK F? Does it belong to the old Express Line and is not required for the Pro Line as it is build in now in the base pack? If so, why is it still possible to buy as the Express Line is discontinued....? Well, back some months ago I abonded the CaptainSim site because of this confusion. Unfortunatly this made me vulnerable for the overblown advertisement of Quality Wings B757-pack. I bought that. That product offers a good exterior model and that's about it - it has quality wings... After so many years with my aviation hobby I have got far more near to the reality, so I obviously need more professionalism to the B757 simulation than another company can offer. OK then, I'm back to CaptainSim, from which I allready have the C-130 for some years. After this extensive introduction I kindly ask; I want to buy the whole CS B757 family ( 757-200, 757-300, 757F): Do I need to buy this so called BLOCK F and what does this BLOCK add? Regards, Carl |

Hi.
I had a look at the information here: http://www.captainsim.com/products/b757/ and at the Online Store. From what I have read, you only need to buy the 757-200 Base Pack, which includes the FMS, Collins WXR-2100 Weather Radar and Aeronautical Data (AIRAC navigation for the FMS), the 757-300 Expansion Model and 757 Freighter Expansion Model. At €9.99 each, that's a great buy. You do not need to buy Block F. The 757 is only being sold in the Pro Line now so the Block F is there for those who bought 757 Blocks when that was how it was sold. I only have the 757-200, 757-300 & 757-200F (Freighter) for FSX, but it looks like the same deal for FS9 as it is for FSX. For extra help. Visit here: http://www.captainsim.com/products/product_lines.html for an explanation of Captain Sims Production Lines. Hope this helps Mark |

Hi Mark,
thanks a lot ! By the way, the http://www.captainsim.com/products/product_lines.html was one of the pages that confused me as I thought maybe the BLOCK F was an extension pack. At the same time I also got an impression that this BLOCK F and WX-radar and so on were incorporated to the PRO Line Base Pack. However, you have made it clear to me now and I will buy the three parts within the next 10 min :). Thanks again, I really look forward to study, learn and fly the B757! Regards, Carl |
