Title: Thrust lever constantly moving??? Post by kkkk1 on Aug 8th, 2010 at 8:18pm
Hi Folks,
When I am airborne and the autopilot is engaged the thrust lever seems to constantly move forward and backwards and the thrust keeps climbing and lowering. It's really annoying. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug in the game? Thanks. |

Hi kkkk1,
I believe you are using the engines A/T (autothrottle) turned ON, when this happens. If so, it's a normal condition and you are not doing something wrong and there is not a bug. Don't worry. The wind vector (magnitude and direction) is constantly changing during almost all flight. So it will be necessary to adjust constantly the thrust levers to mantain the airplane's speed you chose. Another factor that has influence is the variation of barometric pressure along the route, where small altitudes corrections are necessaries and can be viewed through the curved green line in the HSI (map mode) and in the climb/descend indicator. In both cases, observe the burned fuel rate changes. The same happens in real airplanes. Hope this help. Pinatubo. |

I have the same problem and the amount of throttle movement is excessive. There is something wrong with the way the throttles move. Plus and minus one quarter of the throttle range is too much. I know this is a game but this issue deserves attention please.

while the auto throttle does move in real aircraft to adjust for wind, pressure, airspeed etc.. It doesn't move that violently.. It adjusts smoothly.. I just don't look at it. ;)

I've relaised what is causing this for me. When I have auto throttle enabled I have left my thrust lever roughly on half power while taxiing so when I enable auto throttle to take off it's trying to give full take off power but becuawse I have set the throttle to half throttle it's battling as to which way to set it. I have now set my throttle to idle then enable autothrottle and the AP does the rest. This has now solved it for me. Thanks. |

Yeah I had this same problem. The 757-200 didn't seem to suffer from this as it would take full control of the throttle, but the 767 still allows your throttle inputs on A/T so the controller may be changing the throttle ever so slightly since its on an axis such as 50-51% even though you aren't moving it.
