You control vertical speed with the auto pilot engaged by using the turn and pitch command knob. Pitch the nose up or down by pushing the knob foward or backward til you have the vertical speed where you want it.

In climbs we climb by airspeeed. Cruise climb is generally about 280-320 kts. The vs is irrelevant as long as you are climbng over 500' per minute.
