I would like to try the Demo version of C-130 x before buying it, but when I try to load the plane, it causes my system to crash. As I can't contact support to help, before buying the full version, I was wondering if any one else chttp://www.captainsim.org/yabbfiles/Templates/Forum/default/sad.gifould help with suggestions.

Just a little more information. My FSX is + SP1 only, as I find problems with other add-ons after installing SP2.

Here are the minimum specs for the C-130 for FSX:

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

   * - PC with 1.5 GHz equivalent or higher processor
   * - 256 MB of system RAM
   * - 64 MB DirectX 9 compatible video card
   * - 500 Mb of free space on the MS FS hard drive
   * - Microsoft® Windows® XP SP2 or Vista
   * - Microsoft® Flight Simulator X SP2 or Flight Simulator X Acceleration.
   * - Internet access (for installation/ re-installation)

Please note, we are unable to support technical issues appeared on systems that do not conform to the minimum system requirements.

As you can see, you must have either FSX SP2 or FSX with Acceleration for it to work. So if you don't want to install SP2, you can't fly the C-130 Demo. :(

Thank you so much for that clear explanation as to where the problem is. As the inclusion of SP2 for me would cause the loss of other add-ons that I don’t want to lose at the moment, I will just have to go without the C-130X. One of the other add-ons that I do have and which would normally run using SP2, has been made to operate on Sp1, by a patch supplied by it’s developers. I can only hope that the developers of the C-130X might think it worth their while to develop such a patch for it too. I’ll keep my fingers crossed! Thank you again for the explanation. That has saved me a great deal of time trying to get the C-130X to run on my system.

Me too.
It starts and I do get the VR cockpit in my Oculus Rift CV1, but after running for a few seconds it crashes.

I'm using a water cooled Asus Maximus VIII Formula mobo, with an i7 6700K @ 4.5Ghz on Win 10 Home 64 bit, 32GB of 3200mhz DDR4 RAM, a 980Ti SC+, the CV1 with Flyinside and Leap Motion.

All my stock FSX Gold (with expansion disk) aircraft work fine, but the CS C130 demo crashes shortly after it starts up.  :'(

I 'really' want to buy it ... but it has to work like the other FSX aircraft.
Any hints???

Well I got an answer from Capt. Sim and it was basically just a "Go Fish".

You can't get any support from them for the demo because you don't have an order number to use at their support site, and after writing them to find a way to get support for a crashing demo, they told me to check the min requirements, and that the means I used to message them does not provide any support.

They told me to look at their system requirements page.
I had already told them that my system is a water cooled i7 6700K based Asus mobo, at 4.5Ghz, 32GB DDR4 Ram at 3200mhz, with a NVidia 980Ti SC+, but I have to assume they are suggesting that I need something better. (???)

So fortunately I'll have to look for a C130 on the many free sites I found ... because I won't buy something that crashes when I test it, and when I test it ... it definitely crashes, and I can't get any support from CS unless I buy it first ... which I won't do, not only because the demo crashes, but more importantly ... because of the response I got from Capt. Sim when I reported their catch 22 situation.

So my 2'nd post here is probably going to be my last.  :(

Too many free C130's (and all the other Capt Sim type of aircraft) for FSX, for me to mess about with a company like them.

On edit: I got a follow up email form CS.
They said "the Demo as created long time ago and may not be compatible with contemporary systems".
Wow ... I think I'll just back out now ... and 'most assuredly' without turning around! ;)

I think also it is the demo itself - foget it. The C-130 Experience Package is in most of the cases unproblematic and has a good compatibility.

So, I suggest you give it a try and buy it. This should be not an advertising, but the CS C-130 is one of the coolest airplanes for FSX. There has not any freeware version a chance against it  ;)

You can wait til christmas - there will be all products reduced for a short time.

Well, I bought the basic C130, and have had a lot of issues with it.  :-/

First was repeated warnings when it tried to select it, asking if I wanted to run an untrusted program, and then if I wanted to trust Capt Sim.
Then it would keep repeating that after I selected "YES" to both questions, and would never run.
So I tried it as administrator and it ran.  :)

But then I had no gauge readouts ... they were just dark blank areas on the dashboard.
Now (after many hours of tweaking the settings) I get the gauges, but they don't move at all.
They just stay at whatever they were when the C130 loads.  >:(

Most of the switches/mouse over controls don't work.
Although I do get the tool tips and hand mouse, they don't move.  >:(

The rudder pedals (controlled by a set of Saitek Pro Combat Pedals) work in the right yaw direction properly, but when moving them in the left yaw direction, they follow the movement of my feet on the Saitek pedals, up to 'almost' full left, but then as I continue to move the pedals to full left, the cockpit pedals snap back to center, but my actual pedals are still at full left.  :(
When that happens ... the nose steering wheel operates properly and smoothly.  :-?

Initially the throttles were not all responding to my TM Warthog HOTAS throttle, but I eventually got all 4 to respond to it.  8-)

The audio (for all models) now will start normally, but as I increase the throttle, it all of the sudden drops out to a whisper.
When I go to different views it is equally reduced for that view, even with the sound settings volumes maxed out.
IOW: When sitting on the runway at idle the cabin view has a given sound level, as does the different outside views, with the view behind the left wing being the loudest.
After I run up the throttle these all are significantly reduced to very low levels but do retain their own original different levels, but as indicated ... all are very much reduced.  :(

Maybe my system is too advanced for Capt Sim.  ::)
IMO: It's really just an upper mid level system (as I have detailed above in my previous posts) but it's evidently too much for Capt Sim ... or at least this version of the Capt Sim C130.  :'(

It has also caused problems with my other aircraft.
I had to do a complete resetting of all controls.
But still had weird issues ... like my toe diff-brakes would hang when released and cause all models to be difficult to control when taxing or at takeoff/landing.
And as indicated ... my audio for all models is screwed up.  >:(

So I uninstalled the Capt C-130, and am hoping a renaming of the config file will get me back to normal with my FSXG.  :-/

It simply is not working as advertised in my system.
Consequently I'm proceeding to obtain a refund ... either via co-operation from Capt Sim (so far a no-go) or my VISA card/PayPal.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having so many problems with the Captain Sim C-130.
While I don't think your "system is too advanced for Capt Sim", I do not know why you are having so many issues with it. Lots of people have had problems with Captain Sim products in Windows 10, so it is not supported at this time. I'm sure that future updates will support Windows 10.
When you installed it, did you use the Instant Online Activation, or the Manual Offline Activation? If you did the Instant Online Activation, I suggest you try the Manual Offline Activation, as it often works better. Not only that, but it gives you the benefit of multiple installs on your computer being a single install (great for when having persistent problems like you are having).
While sound issues are common on the C-130, I haven't had as bad a problems as you are having with them.

If the Manual Offline Activation does not fix most of your problems, then I can only assume that something else you have installed in FSX is conflicting with it.

I'm sure you will get your refund, and I am really sorry that you didn't get the enjoyment out of it that many others have. :(

I have taken a second look at your systemspecs and this is really a great High-End System  :D - I'am sure this was not cheap ...

So you are using FSX on it? I recommend to change to P3D - this will give you much more FPS and your Hardware will be exploited better!

Maybe this can also solve your Problems with the C-130.

I'm thinking you are probably right about P3D.

And I'll admit that I'm more than just a bit frustrated by it all.  :-[

And, thank goodness for Dan Church (of FlyInside) for allowing me a refund for my FSX version of FlyInside, so I have time to sort this all out.
I'd 'really' like to get it working properly on either FSX or (more likely) ... P3D, so I can get the matching version of Flyinside from Dan.

I served a 6 year tour in the USAF as an avionic specialist, working on the C5A, C141, C130 and C123, and was ultimately assigned to JUSMAG (the Joint US Military Advisory/Assistance Group) until 1975, as an advisor with USMACThai (US Military Advisor Command Thailand) 1131'st TLD at Udorn RTAFB, training Cambodian and Laotian military personnel to repair the avionics on various aircraft, during the Vietnam war ... and have a sort of "Brothers at arms" tie to my neighbor that flies the C130J as a Maj. in the USAF Air National Guard on regular deployments to Afghanistan, when he's not on duty at his "day job" as a California Highway Patrol officer.

He flew a special combat drop mission in Afghanistan, with the call sign Torque 58 on Sept 11, 2011 ... the 10'th anniversary of 9/11, under Operation Enduring Freedom.
They carried a few US flags with them on that mission, and when he returned he presented my wife and I with one of those flags, in a special deep frame that also contains a certificate/photo of his C130J, signed by himself (the A/C Commander) and the rest of the flight crew.

So ... the C130 has a long time, and very special place in my life.
And I'll keep hammering away at it, but I'm really disappointed that Capt Sim has been so ... less than helpful.  ::)

I'm going to try to rename the config file, and see if that helps at all, and am reading about the different tweaks people have done to the config file, but I’m getting a real sense that I should just go to P3D, and then move the CS C130 over to it using either the somewhat complicated appearing instructions I stumbled upon on the different forums, or just buy a program that will do the transfer.

I hope we can get this sorted out for you. The CS C-130 is a fun aircraft to fly in FSX/FSX-SE (I haven't tried it in P3D v3.3 yet).

The good old C-141 Starlifter! As a 12 or 13 year old (1971), I used to watch those big planes taking off from the Richmond AFB (Sydney N.S.W). My parents had friends who lived at the end of the runway, no kidding, if I jumped over their back fence, I would be on the Base, and only about 100 metres, if that, from the end of the runway, and I got to stay with them for a week while my parents were away. I used to sit on their back door steps to watch them take off. They used to need the entire length of the runway to get enough speed to take off, and as they were coming down the runway, I was ready to "run like hell" to get away if they didn't make it in time (like I could escape from that if it was going to happen [smiley=rolleyes.gif]). There were always a lot of them coming and going from Richmond AFB at that time (because of the Vietnam War), so I got to watch a lot taking off in the week that I was there.

Note. My father was an aircraft welder in the RAAF. for 22 years (1953-1975), and he served in Ubon, Thailand, for 6 months in 1966. The longest we ever stayed in any place during his time in the RAAF, was Malaysia for 2 years and 6 months (1961-1963), but it was normally only for 12  months, so we moved a lot when I was a kid!

Yeah Mark, close up watching of the 141 and/or C5 takeoff is something to see.

The end of the runway at Travis AFB had a cattle ranch just beyond the perimeter road fence, and watching those huge, lumbering, sub-sonic bug suckers taking off ... and chasing all the cattle that were not paying attention to how close they were getting to the fence at the end of the active, was a somewhat humorous and surrealistic sight indeed. ;D
I gotta believe that whomever owned that ranch ended up selling some fairly tough beef .... ;)
