I was the same, it was ages before I finally got it.
Its well worth it and is one of those how the heck did I get on without this before things as theres so much that you can do with your controls that FSX wont do by default.

One quick example is the thrust reversers. in FSX you can only setup one reverser that controls all the engines together. With FSUIPC you can setup separate reversers for each engine.
