Title: Centering my exterior view?
Post by Wigwag123 on Feb 28th, 2010 at 5:20am
I recently upgarded to my 3 year old 727's to V2.4 with 200's and freighters. Wow is it great!!! One thing I can't seem to figure out though is why my keyboard right side button 5 doesn't centre my exterior view like it does on all my other aircraft.
Buttons 4 & 6 rotate the veiw left & right, as does my hat switch on the flight stick. But I like the ease of a quick one touch centering that I would normaly get with button 5.

Button 5 does work, but it gives me an instant right side rear 3/4 view. Anybody know how I can centre it?  Thank you.

You can do it by pressing Num 5 then press Num 8 while still holding Num 5 and then release. It's definitely annoying, but it works. Using Num 2 instead of Num 8 is looking at the nose. And using Num 4 or Num 6 is a left and right view.

I wish that Num 5 would centre my Locked Spot view too. It doesn't. Read my posts in "757 Captain it would be nice" and "767 Captain it'd be nice" titled Two Things. Maybe I should add that to the 727 it'd be nice. LOL.

Hi Mark: Is this applicable to v/c view I experinece with most of my fleet right now thet after I have looked around in the cockpit...I'd like to return to front pilots' seat by pressing the spacebar...
But it places me looking at the right window?

Ctrl + Space is the best way to reset your eyepoint back to the looking forward position. I have my joystick button 2 set to reset eypoint as well. It makes it quick to reset the eyepoint after using the pov hat to move my view around.

Pressing just the spacebar will reset the eypoint the first time (it does on my system anyway), then after that it doesn't do anything because while pressing and holding the spacebar and moving the mouse, you pan your view around, just like using a pov hat does.

In most other aircraft, pressing Num 5 in the VC will put your eypoint looking at the seat where your bottom usually is. However, in the Captain Sim 757 and 767 (not sure on the 727 at the moment) put your viewpoint looking at the cockpit door to the passenger cabin. I think the external and VC Num 5 keypress are tied together.

I have tried to find how they do it so I can set it like default and other add-on aircraft, but to no avail. I even asked some other aircraft add-on developers if they knew how it was done. If they know, they aren't saying. Instead they tell me it is tied in to what is entered in the [CameraDefinitions.n].

I've tried to find out if you can do it in the process of creating the .mdl, but I've been told no you can't and I found nothing in the SDK on it either. It could be tied into the ACE.exe but I have no way of finding out and I don't reverse engineer because it's illegal. Another thing it could be is. It is coded into a gauge. It's amazing what you can do with gauges, but I'm not very good at that yet.

I promise you this though. If I ever find out how to change it, I'll let you all know (Sorry Captain Sim). I have been trying to figure it out for ages. ;)

Hope this helps.

Mark

Edit: The Num 5 keypress in the 727 VC points your viewpoint to the OverHead Panel
