If I create a flight plan using the FSX Flight Planner, I have found that when it finds the High Altitude airways it starts with the VOR loacated at the departure airport and finishes with the VOR at the destination airport. I usually delete the departure airports VOR from the flight plan, but I leave the destination VOR in it. How this affects an RNAV approach I don't know because I haven't done one yet.

Because I update my AIRACS from Navigraph every month, I use FS Commander 8.6 to create most plans. CS767/757 and FSC8.6 will match when it comes to the flight plans I create.

As for using something like http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/. I started off using that and I thought it was pretty easy.
