After reinstalling V2.2 in my FSX SP2 installation; Couldn't handle 2.3. I'm still getting the Sink Rate and Pull up calls on approach; I thought I had done the nescesarry changes to avoid these...But they still come up.

Can anyone guide me to get rid of them on v. 2.2, I know this has been addressed in the past, but maybe since 2.3 came out the posts have been errased?

Change your aircraft.cfg file like this:

climbout_sink_rate_fpm     = -1000
flap_and_gear_sink_rate_fpm = -1000

excessive_sink_rate_fpm    = -2000
climbout_sink_rate_fpm     = -1000

The same lines. :-[ I might add that I have gone back to v.2.2

Changing that last one to -1500 might do the trick for you.

I changed only the last line,saved it.Made a short flight; Lost control of the aircraft ::) Recovered, went to the cabin to give everyone a barfbag ;)Attempted an emergency landing...On approaching the ground " Pull-up" began to sound. Eventhough this was not a carefully planned or executed flight the alert was still on; So I can only guess that it didn't work.

I know FSX.cfg file has parameters for these under

[realism]
CrashwithDyn =
CrashDetection=

What if I were to change these to False?

Or change them in the option/setting window when the sim starts?

Ok! Got that fixed,just had to untick  "ignore crashes and damages in the settings.Along with all the other fixes I had done to it,before v.2.3 came out,Gateway attachment,Pushback & turns (Rcbgh 50) Gauge by Rob.
My sys. is packed and all the graphics take sometime to load; Need a new sys. soon....

I am new to this forum, but have been using Flt Sim X for a long time. I am also a retired pilot from TWA after 40 years, with a lot of time in the 727.
During approaches with flaps 30 or 40 degrees the GPWS voice come on with "don't sink" even though I'm in landing config.
Is anyone else getting this error?
BTW, this 727 is a good rendition of the way the 727 flew. Even the paint worn off the yoke is very much as the real plane looked.

Welcome LOU: We all have had to make changes to the cfg files to fix some issues like the one you mention above. The Don't sink issue and Pull up,must be one you hear too. There are some suggested fixes,somewhere here in the forum,try the KB too. I get the sound eventhough I am in perfect VFR landing configuration all VASI on the white. A quick way of fixing this is to untick you "Crashes and damages" in your settings. If it still goes on you have to search the forums for the changes that have to be made in the GPSW section of the section in the aircrfat.cfg file.I discussed the issue in 2.2 with other members here:http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1265400159

The "don't sink" voice should only be active during takeoff.  In the event of an engine failure, it was designed to keep a positive rate of climb during this critical phase. This "don't sink" is the only call I am getting during landing even though I am well within normal rate of descent [less than 1,000 fpm] If I increase the rate of descent during landing past 1,000 fpm I do get the "sink rate" voice which is correct.

The Captain Sim 727 brings back a lot of fun memories of all the hours I spent flying this plane. BTW the -100 727 was a real sport car to fly. When they came out with the -200 it was a dog.

Hi Lou: Ok I'll try.I'm also a learner and have to often ask for help myself. FIRST OF ALL MAKE A SAFE COPY OF YOU 727 FILES AND FOLDERS BEFORE DOING ANYTHING TO THEM!!!!!!!!!.....I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!...

Then go to your cap727 100/200 (?) folder under simobjects/airplanes in your main FSX folder,double click the 727's folder All the folder containing textures,aircraft.cfg,ai;.air file are in there Find your aircraft.cfg file and double click on it; It should open in "notepad" If it doesn't change the program to open it to notepad
Scroll down to the [GPSW] section and overwrite,make the nessesarry changes and save it, by choosing under file "save" Then go and test. Like you I get the callout "don't sink" which is ilogical upon descent to the runway; But I think this is a setting FSX is set for? That's why I suggest ticking off " Crashes and damages from the setting window in FSX. There's still lots of work to be done to the cap727- Look at Markos' and my posts. I just managed to install v2.4 for the sake of the weather radar...My favorite or I should say the one that gave me least H.A. was v2.2

I found the config file and changed the various fpm settings.

When I went to FSX the 727 was gone! Drat!

I reloaded the 727 ver 2.4 to restore the plane.

It's interesting that everything else works just fine, just this don't sink message should not be in the landing phase of flight.

I'll keep playing with the various settings to see if I can correct this.

I'm using Vista OS in a very fast computer and all the other planes work just fine, even the another company 747-400X GPWS works as it does in the real plane.

Standing by for more intel...
