Hello,

I just downloaded it... I have no time to test it now but... anyway thank you very much.  :)

Best Regards.

I too have just downloaded it. I don't have much time to play today either.

Thank you very Captain Sim. I shall consider this a Christmas Gift from you (along with the Christmas Sale earlier)! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all and your families. Have a safe one. ;D

I installed the new 2.3 version and now I have no sounds for for seat belts, pilot, flight attendant and altituded warning. Not even by doing the fix of the 2.2 version in changing the value of  "SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew" from 1 to 0.

Same problem here! no cockpit sounds as well, and using soundoffwhensimisslew=0. Worked well with v2.2. Does anyone discovered the new workarround for this?
Thanks,
Alex

And the new gpws fix does not work either. I now get the old "don't sink" problem that I actually really fixed in 2.2. Time to put together another mod pack Matt :/

Same problem here with sounds : no flight intendant, no altitude alert, no smoke and seatbelt,  no apu's sound... "don't sink" call during approach problem and last but not least : the AP don't follow the glide anyway...

I had no pilot/flight attendant messages working. So to fix this I got the Captain_Sim.p721.P15.CAB file from the 727-100 v2.2 Panel folder and replaced the v2.3 one. They now work!

I got the other sounds working by changing the SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=1 to SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=0 in the sound.ini file

Hope this helps

Ahhh!
Too bad I deleted my 2.2 installer and just kept the 2.3 one! I can't test that gauge change, that fix sounds promising, but thanks Mark anyway.

I noticed this too. When I load the plane, I can hear the announcements from both the Captain and the Flight Attendant. But when I am in mid air and try to hear them again, I don't... Hmm I wonder if there would be a new fix for this?

I still have all my installers and I never get rid of any of them either (I save them on CDs or DVDs). Even when updates/newer versions become available, I keep the older ones.

I only bought the 727 during the fantastic Christmas Sale, so it only starts at 2.2 .

Good evening all;

I've had a little time to install and kick the tires on the 2.3 version.  A couple of quick observations:

- I also had the "no sound" issue at first; I set soundoffwhenslew=0 and it seemed to help.  Later I loaded a flight in the 727-100 and suddenly there was no sound from the altitude alerter again; loading the 727-200 somehow enabled it again.  So, I'm not sure of the cause, but when in doubt load another version of the aircraft and see what you get.

- IMO The Captain seems to have done a good job on the revised autopilot. It appears to be functioning properly and I've abandoned my modified gauge in favor of this one.

WARNING: the one thing the AP seems like it will not do (at least on my system) is override the "hold heading" or "hold altitude" switches; so those of you who may have had trouble capturing a localizer/radial, make sure you switch off the 'heading select' switch when you switch to NAV LOC or AUTO G/S.  If you can't capture the glideslope in AUTO G/S mode, try turning off the "altitude hold" switch once the glideslope triangle starts moving down. The AP worked for me EVERY time once I kept these things in mind.

- I had the dreaded "DON'T SINK"...Launchbury's fix from version 2.2 seems to work still.

- I noticed that CS has fixed the barometric readings on the altimeters (great!)...unfortunately they still have the somewhat ambiguous reading at the thousand-foot 'rollover' point - I did a quick test and I believe that my revised altimeter gauges (with COL Bob Scott's fix) will work just as well with 2.3.

- My "MDA light" fix also still applies to the 2.3 version.

Enjoy!
Matt

Hello,
I'm very confused about the cockpit or systems sounds, with this 2.3 version at first I don't get the sounds but if I reload the aircraft or change it to other livery (on the ground) the sounds come back again! very strange indeed but a temporary fix until something final appears.

I downloaded the new update and did a test flight as soon as I got airborne and made a 5 degree turn to the right the plane goes into a 40-50 degree bank.I tried different changes in heading and still massive turns. I make a small turn and the yoke in the 727 turns all the way right or left depending on the turn. The plane is unflyable in this state.

I have not had chance to download this update yet. Can anyone tell me if CS have fixed the 'descent issue' yet (the issue where upon reducing the throttle to flight idle the airspeed drops rapidly but aircraft does not descend as expected, nose down attitude - airspeed still drops etc)?

I believe that is a deeper issue with the aircraft. It is the same reason a lightly loaded 727-100 will struggle to get up to 35,000 feet. I think there is a drag or efficiency issue with the wing somewhere.

The autopilot pitch control does nothing at all.

Title: Re: 727 Service Pack 2.3
Post by Michael2 on Dec 28th, 2009 at 9:02am
I've now gone back to version 2.2. Although many people complained about the autopilot, I never had a problem with it.  In 2.3 the pitch control simply doesn't work for me and even swapping in the 2.2 autopilot gauge wouldn't fix it. I had to go back completely to 2.2.

Title: Re: 727 Service Pack 2.3
Post by Markoz on Dec 28th, 2009 at 10:08am
It's unfortunate that I have to say the autopilot is much worse than it was before. Even the unmodified 2.2 Autopilot was better than this.

I was horrified when I was lining up with the ILS and switched over to AUTO G/S the plane just nosed up vertically like a rocket. I had to turn of the AP and take manual control. :'(

It looks like I might be better off going back to 2.2 and to using the mods that Matt so kindly provided.

Same here. Pitch control doesn't work "normally".

Yesterday night I tested and I was able to use the pitch control (really can't tell the conditions), then it stop working. In any case, this is not normal.

Hi,
Is there a way to make the 727 fly and follow a MS Flight plan ? I was looking for a gps guidance switch somewhere ala C-130 but didn't found any. Can you only navigate by VOR / ADF in this baby ?

Thx

Gents;

I've got my fingers crossed as I say this...but the new AP seems to work fine for me.   Two things I've learned while messing with it:

- If no response from the elevator master switch, turn "altitude hold" on and then off again.  This seemed to clear out some kind of glitch for me...after I do it the switch works normally.

- When intercepting a radial/localizer, make sure "heading hold" is off.  When intercepting a glideslope, make sure that "altitude hold" is off. It seems the new AP will not override these functions if they are enabled.

Condolences to all who are having more troubles with this update  :'(

Hello and a Merry Christams and Happy New Year to everyone, Thanks captainsim for the new version 2.3
I inmediately got to downloading and installing fallowing the instructions on the download page.

It is a shame that there are still issues in an update.

My Seatbelt & No Smoking dings have gone silent. Even though I tried the fix:"SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew" from 1 to 0" In the sound ini file...Still silent.And altitude alerter.

Have just done a a small short flight can say it works to my satisfaction except it does bank too much when performing turns.

Can anyone please tell me how to correct this issues in simple terms?

Thanks in advance:

Berlopez

Thanks Matt, will give it a try.  I always do my flight plans VOR to VOR but I don't want to actually have to tune for each VOR and sit in front of my PC during the whole flight, I'm normally there only for SID and STAR and the remaining I watch the flight progress from time to time while watching the telly  :o

I hear you there! I have had good luck with letting the AP follow a GPS flight plan using my NAV/GPS button.  But I must admit I haven't tried it with version 2.3 yet.

I have tried all suggestions from the KB sound fix and still no sounds. Was this update even tested before release, and if so, what system are you guys using? I know many flight simmers use windows XP 64 bit because it is the fastest version of windows with no limit on RAM.

Hello,
Besides SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=0, have you ever tryed reloading the aircraft on ground? With 2.3 I have to do that in order to get the systems sounds, maybe weird but effective.

Same here...once the flight comes up  I do a quick Flight>Reset and the sounds work fine. The altitude alerter knob is what I check...if it clicks I know I'm good.

Hello,

The same here too. I have not modified "SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew", just reloaded the bird.

For me the problems concern now :

-AutoPilot pitch problem (good news Captain seems to have found with the Acceleration issue)
-Don't sink call problem during approach

Anyway I love this "dirty" plane, I hope it will be fixed soon.  ;)

Thank you.

Richard -

For the "Dont Sink" issue - try changing the GPWS section to look like this:

[GPWS]
max_warning_height = 1200
sink_rate_fpm = -1500
excessive_sink_rate_fpm = -2000
climbout_sink_rate_fpm = -1500
flap_and_gear_sink_rate_fpm= -1500.

I think the problem is that on approach, the CapSim climbout sink rate of -100 trips the GPWS.

Please let us know if this works for you...worked for me.  The other option is to kill the GPWS entirely by changing the section to:

[GPWS]
max_warning_height = -1 //disable integral FSX GPWS

Thank you Matt for your answer. It works for me but I'm not sure that is the correct way (change the climbout_sink_rate_fpm)...

In the Microsoft ESP SDK overview they wrote about climbout_sink_rate_fpm :

"If an aircraft starts to descend during takeoff, and exceeds this rate of descent, a warning is activated." Many aircraft have this parameter at -100 (seem logical for me).

Am'I wrong ?

No, you're right...ideally you should be able to set the GPWS climbout warning rate at -100, but I think that is what is causing the constant "Dont Sink" for the Captain Sim aircraft. The cost of this workaround is that the GPWS won't do much to help you if you sink during your climbout.

If you find a better way let us know!

hi everyone
Despite captainsim's 727 a great plane  :), SP 2.3 :
- no altimeter sound
- AP pitch control inoperative
and so on

As Michael2, I never had a problem with AP SP2.2. It works perfectly fine. Notwithstanding, I have to say catching the GS is far from easy...
I had to go back completely to 2.2 too.... :'(

by the way, did anyone notice the plane is moving by himself (very slowly) while grounded, parking break set and engines on (no thrust applied of course) ? :o

i made new CameraDefinition.xxx that can be helpful once copied to 727 aircraft.cfg file :

As I fly in VirtualCockpit view (not Captain Seat), I insert a very first CameraDefinition.000 that makes easy to read the EPR gauges :

ShowLensFlare=FALSE

PitchPanRate=20
HeadingPanRate=60

and one new for the flight engineer panel :

The autopilot pitch control does nothing at all.

Temporary fix is available. Those who experience the issue (this are those who do not have MS Acceleration installed) please check-in to Your Profile  and use Customer Support > Search KB > KB# 4897.

I tried the temporary fix.  Using the pitch control now makes the yoke wildly oscillate back and forth.  I am going back to 2.2 again. Sigh.

Well at least is a fix. It's not perfect but works.
Good part are;
a) CaptainSim gave us a temp fix before going on vacations (Happy new year!!!! )
b) it is a TEMP fix, so we can expect better one!!!  ;)

I downloaded the complete 2.3 installer yesterday, and when prompted by the installer I selected repair. Updated very nicely all works no sound issues, no "Don't sink". Altimeter works, tail light on 727-200, is now corrected, Autopilot works like the real plane, (very limited). What great sim plane, it has become my favorite plane to fly! I only use autopilot, once I have hand flown the plane to alitude, then set VOR or heading to stay on course. Once I reach TD I shut off the autopilot and hand fly the decent and approach. This a real stick and rudder plane, and the joy I get out of it, is piloting it. Captain Sim did you change the force feedback settings? The plane has become very heavy on the controls, just as, I would assume it is in the real world. Anyways it feels very realistic, a handfull to fly in rough weather, and I'm loving it! Bob

From what I understand that is the only way to get the update from 2.2 to 2.3 is to download the whole installer then perform a repair when you run it. Or you would completely uninstall all your 727 products and then run the installed as a new install.

I couldn't find a way to just download a seperate update from 2.2 to 2.3.

That is correct. I backed up my 2.2 installers just in case I now have 2.3 for each, 727-100, 727-200 and 727F. Bob

ok bob

that's what i did before
but SP 2.3 not fully working with my FSX vista 32 SP2 configuration and makes the bird rather unflyable. So i get back to SP 2.2 until next more acurate update... :-?

I would suggest you re-download the installer from Captain sim, perhaps you got an incomplete 2.3. I use Vista 64 bit, but I don't see how that would make a difference. Good luck, let me know how it works out. Bob
