Title: Aircraft 'searching' for the route Post by Joshua Beckers on Jul 9th, 2009 at 10:55am
Hello everybody,
when I activate the autopilot after take-off, without L/NAV and V/NAV activated, the plane is 'searching' for the route I've entered correctly in the FMC. The plane banks then from left to the right. When I activate L/NAV and V/NAV nothing happens, still the same. What's the problem? Thanks in advance, Joshua Beckers ;) |

My first waypoint are from the SID or from a SID-departure waypoint (without SID route) like ARNEM on Schiphol.
Yes I choose a departure runway, I tried different runways and airports but that does'nt work. Joshua ;) |

Hi, Joshua.
When you finish your flight plan you check it on Plan mode? If it does not show a full route since airport but beggining at a certain waypoint, then it's not uncommon to the aircraft to be a little bit 'lost' when far from the FMC route. It is supposed that pilot shall fly until near the waypoint and then activate LNAV. Until there, the procedure should be, if you don't want to hand fly, at 1000 ft AGL to activate AP and HDG. Another way to do is to activate Direct To the waypoint. Regards Schmid |

Yes I check it on the Plan Mode, it's a full route, from airport to airport.
And where can I find Direct to WPT on my aircraft? :-[ :-[ Thanks in advance, Joshua ;) |

Joshua,
Are you close to speed limit? I saw that behavior when I was close to stall after TO.. What happens if you increase speed or lower the nose? |

No, a increased speed or a lowered nose will not help by me.

Just click on FMC button of the waypoint you want to go to copy it to scratchpad and then click again on LSDK1L to put it as the first waypoint. You'll see that a new leg will be set from your current position to that waypoint. Regards Schmid |
