Title: 757, download or disc? Post by Ant1981 on Feb 9th, 2009 at 7:42pm
I can buy the 757 on disc or download. Here is the one on disc http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001H0GEP2/ref=s9_subs_c5_s2_p63_i2?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-1&pf_rd_r=1SPVC0HGVQQQS7498YND&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=463374953&pf_rd_i=468294
This says it has the 200, 300 and freighter models, so what is the difference between this and the proline that I can download? I see that the proline has only the 200, with the 300 and frieghter being at an extra cost. Also, what is block B and F? |

That one is by Just flight, a sort of remake of the Captain Sim one. I'm not sure they have all the livery's, which is why I didn't get it.

another company is simply a publisher, they license works by other companies and make boxed version on disk. That's my understanding at least. Also my understanding is that the version on their disks are out of date, and you must download most (if not all) of the package again to get the full updated version with the most recent bug fixes and/or the updates do not support the boxed version.
I may be completely wrong about those statements though. You can confirm on another company's website that their boxed version *is* a captain sim product though. Of course, if you order from CS store, you get it right away as fast as your internet connection will let you download. And of course the boxed version you must wait for the postal service. If what I said above is correct, you might end up downloading most or all of the package anyhow to get the updates, so why not just get the download version. :) The "block system" is the old way that CS distributed these products. The new way is "ProPack" and expansions. The block system is deprecated and no longer supported, and for a time there was an upgrade available to owners of the block system products, but that is no longer available I think. I have all three packs, -2/3/Freighter and I use the -2/3 most, because I usually do passenger flights, though I've flown several hours in the Freighter pack. The freighter pack consists of two liveries, UPS and DHL both are built on the freighter model with is different than the passenger model of course, but is still basically a 757-200. Hope it helps! |
