Thanks for the input.  I had always believed the trigger was false, due to how I understand GPWS should normally cause that sound.

And, since you indicate it's the default FSX methods that are triggering it, preventing FSX from playing the file will also keep it from playing it in planes that aren't equipped with GPWS, which is very annoying!  :o
