Title: Re: Sound issues - (now with possible fix) Post by EGNR on Jan 6th, 2009 at 9:37am Quote:
Thanks for the tip, but I tried this and it did not help. However, I have a work-around thanks to some help on the AVSIM forums. I've replaced the sound folder in the CS_130 folder with an add-on set, and it's now working well, although I still have to ALT-A-Enter-Enter after loading the aircraft, so that tells me there's still a problem with the aircrafts' initialisation - maybe this can be resolved in a future patch. Anyway, if you want to give it a go; 1. Do a search in the AVSIM file library for 'c-130-sound.zip'. 2. As per the install instructions, backup the your original sound directory from the 'Microsoft Flight Simulator\Simobjects\Airplanes\CS_130'directory. 3. Replace with the new sound directory. 4. Find and backup the Captain_Sim.c130.sound.gau file, which can be found in the 'Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Gauges' directory. Then remove this file from the gauges directory. That's it, you should now have a wonderful T56 sound set that doesn't fade with throttle increase, at least it works for me. I now have to turn down the speakers or I go deaf - which is cool. I think the main culprit for my hardware set-up is the Captain_Sim.c130.sound.gau file, and it's interaction with the X-Fi drivers under Vista x64 - again this can hopefully be addressed in a future patch. Off to do some multi-engine short-take off's now...;D |
