Thanks 'Maxam' but like I wrote above I already tried reducing the various textures for the aircraft and that didn't work.  My problem has to do with the gauges somewhere.  Maybe when the 1.4 version is uninstalled there's still gauges that are left over that need to be manually deleted as well.  That's the only way I can make since of this.  My problem is not a texture problem but rather a gauge file somewhere.  I tried loading up the aircraft without the gauges to see if it was the model itself and the issue was no longer present.  Maybe someone can give me a clue as to what could possibly be left over from 1.4 that would cause a conflict.

As far as defraging, I defrag with each new add-on install and every other week if necessary...
