Hello,

I would like to know how can I activate TCAS. I do not see the option to activate it in the manual or in the EFIS window. I always see in the HSI a warning sayng "TCAS OFF"

Please to VC Panel, see radio.. TCAS! Not 2D Panel..! Sorry! See manual = cs757_manual2.pdf page 83 > P16 (Transponder Panel), that is TCAS!

Hi Juan,

to activate TCAS in 2d panel, go to the Navradiio-Subpanel. The lowest part of it, where the transponder code is set, has the TCAS swith onthe right where it reads STBY, XPNDR, TA ONLY TARA: Click a little right of it ant it will switch to TARA and you´ll get the TCAS on. In the lower NAV CRT you will then see the TA RA message.
Then go to the EICAS subpanel and click in the middle of the range selector (button on the left side) - you then will see the "Traffic" message on the NAV CRT.

To activate TCAS in the 3d panel it´s just the same.

I have done what you recommended, but I get an amber message in the left lower corner of the NAV CRT saying "tcas fail". WHen I click the button in the EFIS subpanel I get above the later message, a green "tfc". However, I have realized that I see no planes in the NAV CRT even thogh I can see them from the cokpit.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Juan,
did you align the irs first in the overhead?
I tried to finf the cause for this message and found I got the TCAS fail message when the irs was not properly allignet, that is set to align first until the align lights go out and then set to nav.
Try and tell me if it works,

Yes Werner, you are right, the TCAS did not work in "free" flight. However, it became green when I tried a FMC flight with IRS alignment.
