Title: AC-130 Gun Panel
Post by Bassdrum40 on Mar 18th, 2008 at 6:09pm
Hello,
     I downloaded the c-130 extra pack 2 last night and it flies great. The problem is that on the Spectra AC-130 when I press Shift+2 the same panel as in the c-130 Base package opens up. I would like to know what to do so I will be able to use the weapons on board. The PDF states that it should show some extra icons and it does not. Please help.

Thanks

1. Product name and version} FSX c-130 Extra pack 2
2. Download or a box?} Downloaded
3. MSFS version?} FSX
4. MSFS Service Pack version?} Acceleration
5. What exactly doesn’t work or works wrong?} mention above
6. When it happens?} All the time
7. How exactly do you think it supposed to work? I need to see the fire control panel.
8. What is your system?} Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE, 3 GB
   DDR II SDRAM, AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ / 2.8 GHz

If you want I can explain how to assign the gun panel to a "shift+#" assignment but you must be confident in how to use the aircraft config. files.

Ok...  First thing to do is find the AC-130 panel config. file.  Mine is located at C:/program files/microsoft games/microsoft flight simulator x/simobjects/CS-EX2_AC130/panel.g

Next, open the config. file and make a back-up.  You have to pick one of the following to replace with the weapons panel:
  • Main Panel
  • Simicon Panel
  • Animations Panel
  • First Officer Panel
  • Lower Overhead Panel
  • Upper Overhead Panel
  • Radio Panel
  • Autopilot Panel
  • Radar Panel

Note: You can only do this with the first 9 windows starting with [Window00].

*For my example I will replace the radio stack window*

First I will look at the window titles at the top and find the radio stack.  Then I will scroll to the corresponding section, ex. Window06 is the radio stack so I will scroll down to the [Window06] section.  Next, I would cut everything in [Window06] and paste it right after the content in [Window20].  At this point, [Window06] will be empty and [Window20] will look like this:

[Window20]
size_mm=345, 200
background_color=2,2,2
position=3
visible=0
ident=11015
nomenu=0
gauge00=..\..\CS_EX2_AC130\panel\Captain_Sim.c130.weapon!weapon, 0, 0, 345,200size_mm=255,561
background_color=16,16,16
position=8
visible=0
zorder=30
ident=RADIO_STACK_PANEL
gauge00=..\..\CS_C130\panel\Captain_Sim.c130.radio!C130_NAV, 0,0
gauge01=..\..\CS_C130\panel\Captain_Sim.c130.radio!C130_VHF, 0,169
gauge02=..\..\CS_C130\panel\Captain_Sim.c130.radio!C130_VHF2, 0,268
gauge03=..\..\CS_C130\panel\Captain_Sim.c130.radio!C130_ADF, 0,367

After I finish copying, I will select the original contents of [Window20] and cut and paste it to [Window06].  So now [Winodw06] will contain [Window20]'s original content and vise versa.

Now go back to the top where all the Window titles are.  Switch the two titles that you use.  For example, I started with this:
[Window Titles]
Window00=Main Panel
Window01=Simicon Panel
Window02=Animations Panel
Window03=First Officer Panel
Window04=Lower Overhead Panel
Window05=Upper Overhead Panel
Window06=Radio Panel
Window07=Autopilot Panel
Window08=Radar Panel
Window09=Radar Display
Window10=Throttle Panel
Window11=Flaps Panel
Window12=Hydraulics Panel
Window13=Ramp Panel
Window14=Navigator Panel
Window15=SSR Panel
Window16=GPS
Window17=Engine Start
Window18=Wheel Panel Left
Window19=Wheel Panel Right
Window20=Weapon Panel

And ended with this:
[Window Titles]
Window00=Main Panel
Window01=Simicon Panel
Window02=Animations Panel
Window03=First Officer Panel
Window04=Lower Overhead Panel
Window05=Upper Overhead Panel
Window06=Weapon Panel  <-
Window07=Autopilot Panel    \
Window08=Radar Panel         \
Window09=Radar Display        \
Window10=Throttle Panel          \
Window11=Flaps Panel               \
Window12=Hydraulics Panel         \
Window13=Ramp Panel                l
Window14=Navigator Panel          l
Window15=SSR Panel                  >------------------------------Notice the switch.
Window16=GPS                         /
Window17=Engine Start            /
Window18=Wheel Panel Left    /
Window19=Wheel Panel Right /
Window20=Radio Panel       <-

Then save it and that's it.  This will not change any icons on the simicon panel.  It will only allow you now to be able to open the weapons panel by pressing shift+number 1-9.  Good luck and remember to back-up the file before making any changes.  Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the explanation Josh. I just puchased the C130X Pro during the sale and was trying to figure out how to get the AC130 and KC130 panels to work. All works fine now!

Hey,

if you're uncomfortable with editing the config files, or you don't want to loose any panel under the standard 'shift+#' hotkey,
you can always go to the 'View' tab in the fsx toolbar, choose 'instrument panel' and click the one you want, for the spectre, the gun panel is listed...
I do it that way, since it's not much slower, and you can't do anything wrong :P :P
