Title: Captain Sim B-52 Stratofortress
Post by jb on Dec 4th, 2007 at 5:36pm
Last night I dreamed Captain Sim produced a Vietnam Era Boeing B-52D.

It was complete with all crew positions modeled, including the tail gunner.
You could even sit in the tail gunners seat for take off and landing.

All navigation/bombing functions could be done from the Navigators seats and the
EWO had a functioning radar panel.

On take-off, thick clouds of billowing black smoke left a trail down the
runway.  And a sound like rolling thunder.

It was awesome!  I haven't had a dream like that since I was a teenager!

Thank You Captain Sim, keep up the good work!

Definately the big "O"!

An FSX C-130, now an FSX B-52.

Flight Sim heaven.

What variant is it? :D

From the pictures, the modeling looks like its about 70% done, with only the right side of the plane left to do. If so can we expect it to be out very soon? Sorry about all the questions, but this looks like a master piece!  8-)

Going by the lumps and bumps on the nose I suspect it is a G or H model.

A NB-52A with the X-15 under the wing and a launch effect would go well with the excellent aircraft in the screenshots.

Hey CS! It was ages ago, but one of you gave me the F-104 for free in an agreement that I would help you with your B-52H project. I just wanted you to know I hadn't forgotten about it at all. Just need to let me know where and how I can help. In case you don't remember I was a Flying Crew Chief on the 'H' for 6 1/2 years before becoming a Flight Engineer. Let me know!

Besides, I'd prefer to see progress on those products that are being worked on already or that have been released: SP2 for the FS9 C-130, v1.2 of the 707, upcoming "blocks" for the 757 and 727...

Well well it looks like this B-52 is going to be a smash. The aircraft looks lovley and knowing the captain sim product it will be incredibly detailed.

Great job

Now I would like to see a Captain sim G550 its a bussiness jet but it would be something cool to add to the fsx hanger with a virtual cabin/cockpit the detail of captain simm would just make it unbelivable but then again that's just me anyways great aircraft captain sim.

And good luck flying the B-52 everyone :)

:) A D" would be so nice, but the model does look like a H". Either way, I am looking forward to
putting this in my collection. Having been raised in SAC, starting in 1962 and flying (C/C) from C's to G's, it
will surely bring back some fond and scarey momnents.

Very excellent job on the model. It looks outstanding.  :o This is going to bring me many hours of enjoyment like my C130X and 757. Practically havent touched another plane in my hangar since I got the C130X. A small question about the flight model though. I remember reading somewhere that FSX is limited to a maximum of 6 engines, and the B-52 has 8. The only reason I bring this up is because I remember that being a large reason people wouldn't model  my favorite prop job of all time the H-4 Hercules (Spruce Goose). I assume with a jet though could probably just model 4 engines in the air file and just link the gauges together? Thank you in advance for taking time to answer, keep up the good work.  8-)

Yep!  Looks like my dream is about to come true.  I'd prefer the "D" model but I'll
take anything I can get at this point.  G or H it doesn't matter as long as it's a B-52.

It's going to look real nice sitting beside my CS C-130X in my private hangar.

What can I dream about next?

Thank You Captain Sim!

I cannot recommend the Alpha Sim B-52.  It's 2d and the virtual cockpits are NOT Alpha Sim's
best work.  The exterior model is fantastic, but don't look inside.  It's one of their older models and needs
to be re-done to their current standards, which are much higher.  Their newer stuff is really nice.

Personally, I'd like to see a 379th BMW G model (complete with "Triangle K" markings), and a D would be nice, but hey...its a BUFF!

Looks GREAT!

Captain Sim, if you want any more help on this beast, besides the ones who have already offered, I'd be glad to assist. I spent 13 years as a gunner on the B-52D, until they were retired, and then on the B-52G until the AF decided gunners weren't needed any more, following Desert Storm.

Needless to say, I can't wait to fly this beast!

I see that this is a rather old thread but is there any timeframe on the Buff??

I for one have flown fs9 and 2002 for sometime and for a while I had both fs9 and fsx loaded on pc, because of the add-ons I had for fs9 like the B-52 and other mil aircraft.

Since I have learned how to add some aircraft to FSX, now fs9 is no longer on my pc.  I have FSX Delux and FSX on pc(2) for add-on programs.  I only fly Mil aircraft if I fly fixed wing, fly Heli's generally.

However, I just bought the C-130Pro 4 weeks ago and LOVE It!!  What a very thoughtfully put together sim Captain Sim guys/gals.  Much work and it was worth the price as I had hoped.  Haven't flown any helo's since that day, lol.  darn didn't realize it was that longago til now, seems like yesturday.

Looking forward to the B-52 and hey how bout some helo's huh??

Thanks again.

There's a lot of interest in the CS B-52.  It will be a big seller.

What will the virtual cockpit be like on this addon, Captain Sim?  What are your plans?

Title: Re: Captain Sim B-52D Stratofortress

Hopefully, the Virtual Cockpit will include all six primary crew positions
with clickable controls on each panel.

Similiar to how the the C-130X virtual cockpit includes the entire
cockpit with the Flt Engineer and Navigator positions.

And don't forget the classified documents safe where Major Kong stored his Cowboy hat.

You can't expect a developer to give a release date so early in development.  Most developers will tell you it's done when i'ts done, and nothing more, and they often work on more than one project at the same time, which makes giving estimated release dates impossible.  I'm sure this is more than six months away, maybe as much as a year...

Nice work with the B-52 guys, about time someone built a decent model of the Aircraft and who better to build it but CS...!... :)
Has it got long to go before it's release????

I would love to see a decent UH-1 Huey model made as well. That would be awesome, it's the most sold and flown (the highest amount of hours total) Military Aircraft in history to date (fact) and none of the top FSX/FS9 Aircraft designers/builders have even looked at it yet, i keep getting e-mails from designers saying that they are looking at it but they are just building what the people want??? Well i still dont understand that statement and maybe you could answer it for me, for example; I'm on many FS forums and i still haven't found a person who wants to fly or buy the T-34 or any other strangely made and designed Aircraft Models. (T-34 being one example of many), would the CS crew be able to answer me the question of why it hasn't been built yet?? Not a stab just a general question, cheers guys, keep up the great work..???? 8-)

On the website the pictures shown is definitely an H model judging by the rear LRU-8 Radome.  Everyday I go on captain Sim to see if there is any more updates.  Will they have a reservation period when they get close to done(like reserving a copy before it gets released)

As for the interior that would be neat to see each of the stations but how is the EW station going to work considering its a lot of classified stuff there.  those of us who worked on, or flew it will be able to tell the difference.

I wonder what bomb squadrons and tail numbers they will use and if there is going to be other models (G, D, C...YB-52)?  Well I am definitely a buyer.

I think a reservation period is kind of pointless, since CS delivers it's products via download, so there is no limited stock of the product...
Kind of stupid to reserve a product when there is no need to reserve at all, I think.

Back on topic, the B52,
I would love to have it, if my budget allows for it...
I really like that huge bird!!
I already have both Xload and the C130 Xperience, and I love them both, so I'm looking forward to the next military release from my favourite FS add-on developer!

I'm buying it just as soon as it comes out.

in a high quality B-52.

I'm buying it just as soon as it comes out.

The CS C-130X is my favorite aircraft and if the
new B-52 is as  good, it will be another winner
for CS.

Yeah if they would only let us know its still being worked on

I'm buying it the very instant it hits the market.

The CS B-52 will be a great FSX add-on aircraft.

I was just thinking about the FSX wing flex capability and
the black smoke from the engines on take off.

The B-52 is the only airplane I've seen take off with the
nose pointed in a downward attitude.

That will be great in FSX.

yeah! i can imagine very well!

also very nice will be the crosswind correction system. watching the runway coming closer through the sidewindow and touching down perfectly anyway.

did i already mention, that the D-model would be nice to have?

Hi everybody i'm new here and i just saw the Captain Sim B-52 in the previews section, and i'm amazed at how much detail it has.

I also had a vision of the endless possibilities of what you can do with this Magnificent Airplane ::),here are a few... ;D

Flying the Cold War Deterrence Mission "Operation Chrome Dome" In which the B-52's are flying 24/7 just 2 hours from there targets inside Russia,Imagine players flying this mission on the FSX Multiplayer where you get to see other players flying in formation or alongside and...Air to Air Refuelling with KC-135 Stratotankers and then(Just like the movie Dr.Strangelove...or not)we get a code from base(If it's possible)to nuke targets inside russia to prevent the commies from "impurifying our precious bodily fluids".Then we get to do the checklist when Wing Attack Plan R is issued and then head for our targets then(simulating that we dropped the bomb)kabooom mission complete return to base gentlemen ;D

The second...

Flying over low altitudes in Vietnam dropping massive amount of bombs while F-105 Thunderchief Aircraft escort us...

Well thats all i can think off other members or users please vision what you can do with this magnificent aircraft...

Hey mate :)

Glad you are enthusiastic about Captain Sim and the BUFF.  I can't, however, think it would be terribly appropriate for Captain Sim to model these- for one, Captain Sim is a Russian company.  I, for one, would be very upset with anyone who bombed Rachmaninoff's homeland.

Missions like these are something Gera over at Sim-Outhouse might be interested in.  Join there and drop your idea by him :)

I think that very few Flight Simmers look at it quite like that?
Most of us just want to fly historical aircraft.

People from all over the world read this forum and some of the wording

So most likely we'll release the B-52 exterior model alone, soon.

I can imagine why it's taking so long, the B-52 is the worlds most complex aircraft which is why it has such a wide variety of roles. In addition the typical 50's style cockpit is crammed full of switches, levers and dials. Just Google "b52 cockpit" and you'll see what I mean.

I guess they'll be doing it the same way as the 727:
first release the exterior only at low cost, later release the full version,
and give those who bought the exterior only a discount...

Even without VC and systems and the lot,
I'll be looking forward to a nice B52 for FSX...

I would love the B52 for FSX. But I'll probably wait for the complete version. I like to fly using the VC or it doesn't feel real enough for me. The default 747 VC isn't high enough standard for me any more. It's Captain Sims fault too! They have spoiled me too much. :P

I did wait for the 727 to get it's VC (and them some) before I got it. I think I can hold out for a year or so. Then again. Maybe not. ;)

Hi I was extremely excited at the announcement that Capt sim was working on a B52!..i usually dont bother with payware as my funds are not exactly overflowing....however i have purchased a few FSX addons over the yrs when i feel they warrant the expense...

I am a BIG fan of the Vietnam war and all the aviation that was involved and was delighted that the Buff was going to be modelled by the great Capt sim.....and looking at the screenshots it looks amazing!....

One thing that attracted me to FSX was the inclusion of dedicated and highly authentic Virtual cockpits as oppossed to say xplanes basic offerings...even the FSX default aircraft have excellent  functional/flyable and in most cases detailed Virtual cockpits....however they cannont compare with some of the better PAYWARE VC's out there.....so one of the attractions for me and i would say EXPECTATIONS is a realistic and fully functional detailed emersive Virtual cockpit...

I often look out of the cockpit and also enjoy the many exterior views that FSX offers to further enhance my simming experience...

But what i fail toi understand is why such a respected and reputable company as Capt sim is doing when they intend to release such an iconic and amazing historic aircraft like the B52 which is so highly anticipated and desired by many....is being released with an aliased 747 Virtual cockpit and NO dedicated avionics or interior views at all!

I have just joined this forum to register my absolute disappointment  and utter confusion of what the hell Capt sim is playing at?....no one would order a truck and expect to pick it up incomplete?...

Imagine the scenario:
Oh, did I tell everyone I was buying a brand new truck next week? I got a heck of a deal!! Yeah, it's being delivered to KSEA via air freight. I have to take a trailer to pick it up. Strange new approach to the auto industry. I saved money and bought it without the engine, but it has pedals and two seats

Please please please Capt sim...stop this ridiculous policy and release fully complete and interior as well as exterior models!..i for one will sadly have to pass this one by and wait to see if the  vc is released at a future date..which from the admins comments here looks highly unlikely...i personally dont want to fly a b52 around from the default 747 cockpit...how belittling and unrealistic for any serious FSX pilot!....sorry for such a long post and going on but i am very disillusioned with your companies attitudes and policies as regards Payware releases of late and am deeply saddened that such a great company as yours can resort to such tactics.....thank you and take care...

Laughable.

Given this aircraft will not match up to even the most basic freeware package (given that 99% of freeware developers try to include a good VC), I suggest you release this product as freeware. To be perfectly honest there are several freeware aircraft that feature full VC's and systems modelling 3 times more complex than the B-52.

Perhaps you can explain how you think this is acceptable?

This is hugely embarassing for CaptainSim.

Tell you what, we'll make a compromise. I'll pay you $0.01 for the exterior. As for the future full payment, we will see what the future will bring for us. Nothing else promised.

I'm the original poster who started this thread over 2 years ago.
This is definately NOT what I had in mind.

I was hoping for a B-52 of the same quality/complexity as their C-130,
with additional VC crew positions similiar to how they did the C-130 navigator and gunship positions.

Hopefully CS will read all these posts from upset customers and
reconsider.

Or another developer will pick up the ball and run with it?

what people here seem to forget is that the 727 was also released exterior only first...
And honestly, I love that plane now!

A good 3D model takes time to make, as do textures for it.
But writing the system coding, and building a VC model are a lot of extra time...

If you were a dev, and had a perfectly good model lying around, just waiting for the systems (which are, to use CS's words, thousands of lines of handwritten code)  wouldn't you want to try to already show it to the world/make some money with it?

Be serious guys, breaking down CS won't help you getting the VC any sooner...
I also want it, very much... but there's no need to get al worked up, when you don't know CS's business strategy (I don't want to pretend I do know it either)

Just my opinion...

I fully agree! I will buy this regardless of the inclusion of systems/vc. I'm sure that if the sales prove worthy, there will be intrest to complete the model. I would prefer a full realease, but how many fsx b52's of this quality are there? I'm sure there is a solid mareketing stratedgy in place. My 2cents 8-)

Well if i was a Dev that cared about my reputation and future credibility, i certainly wouldn't start a huge project like the B52 and after a few yrs of promoting it with amazing EXTERIOR mouthwatering screenshots ...anounce i havnt done the interior modelling!...

Hi all
I can see that this topic is getting rather heated now.  It's not very often that I speak up about things but here is my take on this discussion.  I'll add some points to the items listed by mach 1

Tyrion I think you need take a step back from fantasy land and take a look at reality my son...some of your naive and obvious points about the Virtual cockpit taking a long time to develop and Devs having exterior models hanging around and what would you do statements etc are just plain stupid!..
What would you do if you were a Dev let’s look at this point you made!
Well if I was a Dev that cared about my reputation and future credibility, I certainly wouldn't start a huge project like the B52 and after a few yrs of promoting it with amazing EXTERIOR mouthwatering screenshots ...announce I haven’t done the interior modeling!...

Capt sim must have known from the beginning they wouldn’t be doing a VC for this payware release!

Exterior of Interior?  I can see your point Mach 1 but look at it this way.  What would you rather have?  An interior that has no external model? Or and exterior where you could either add your own choice of cockpit or wait for the official one?  You could have both if you are willing to wait a few more years.
From the Dev's point of view - You can make cash from selling an exterior model but what can you do with a cockpit with no exterior?  It's all business, we at McPhat do what we do because a) we enjoy texturing aircraft and b) we are now starting to making money from our hobby.  Developers are exactly the same.
On a project development side of it.  Our UHDT textures are taking us a hell of a long time to create.  The basic repaint kit took many many hours of research and creation.  Then it's at least 80 to 100 man hours to research and create each repaint.  In the end that time is worth the results we have been achieving.  The Buff is the same.  CS are using 4 X higher resolution than any other of their products.  Now look at the physical size of the Buff.  The texture tiles must be in there high numbers and each one needs alignment and detailing.  At the resolutions they are working at that means getting every word of each stenciled part of the aircraft.  I work on C-130's and out external marked panels are in the hundreds.  Again think of how many the Buff has.

As for Jonny Test he is in my opinion only trying to highlight the ridiculous short sightedness and credulity of some of the forum members here to SEE  the reality that it is highly unlikely that Capt sim will even bother to develop a Virtual cockpit,.....DONT YOU SEE they haven’t even announced a virtual cockpit YET!..Let alone are working on one! I don't think that there will be any issues with a cockpit in the future.  again it's down to time.

The 727 for FSX was released with no cockpit to speak of.  CS came through with a great updated version of the 727 cockpit.  I think it will be the same for the Buff.  But as they have to start from scratch, hence the longer development time.
On to the cockpit.  CS's Legendary C-130 for FS9 took 3 years to develop.  Most of that you can imagine is on the cockpit, vc and gauges.  The Buff has six seated positions. That's five full cockpits so to speak.

so we have a real dilemma here..do we support a Dev by their own admission refuses to play ball and EVEN make a promise of a VC! ..or do we boycott this nonsense now once and for all and reward Capt sims audacity with the proverbial two fingers?

So its your choice either be Naive like yourself and purchase this half baked puppy and perpetuate this imprudent nonsense of a policy or ALL make a bold statement to NOT part with your hard earned cash!...i for one sadly will be opting for the latter!...i do hope the great Capt sim is listening to all this.....

In Reality (as seems to be the sentence for this topic).  CS moved to the modular retail solution with the 757.  You bought the product in blocks so you can enjoy the aircraft as they develop it.  You get what they finish.  This also means they can concentrate on one part at a time to bring it out for you to enjoy as quickly as they can.  This was not embraced by everyone but it is a policy they have stuck to.  They are also working on multiple projects with a team that can’t be much bigger than when they worked on the 757.

and the biggest solution to all of it is....if you don't like it don't buy it...no one is forcing anyone too.

A note to all who read this topic too.  Captain Sim doesn’t accept any impolite behavior in there forum.  If posts get too heated members can find themselves blocked and their posts removed.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.  Now it's back to the Monarch UHDT 757 repaint for me.

As other members have already pointed out CS released the 727 exterior before they came out with the full version and look at how great that product turned out. Considering the quality of of CS's other products, I for one have no problem waiting for them to finish it up. Even if they don't decide to release a VC/Systems upgrade the exterior will be the best B-52 on the market even without them. Antagonizing CS isn't going to get you what you want so just sit back and relax and try to have a modicum patience and understanding.

@ Dax

It is not my wish to discredit or dis-rail the great Capt sim....but when you quoted my post and offered your postulated views...i am surprised to see that you also have failed to see the bigger picture my friend..

you state:

''What would you rather have?  An interior that has no external model? Or and exterior where you could either add your own choice of cockpit or wait for the official one?  You could have both if you are willing to wait a few more years.''...

Dont you see??????..Capt sim hasnt even stated they are going to release a VC!!!!!!. so why do you suppose we could have BOTH in a few yrs..what do you base your presumptions on?.and as i already reiterated MY VIEWS were that they SHOULD of worked on a VC as WELL as the exterior!..i thought i made that simple point pertinent....please re-read my statements...and as for what i would like.. a b52 exterior with a b52 cockpit..not a ridiculous 747 aliased one!...its an insult to any serious FSX simmer to expect to pay for such a thing!

I think you will find if you do some research and look into the delays on the c130 you will see it was  more to do with internal management conflicts and personal issues than actual physical development problems..But even with the convoluted stressful gestation period of the c-130 ...at least it had a complete fully working interior model...this is sadly not the case for the b52 nor does it appear to be a planned future inclusion....

Your views of reality seem sadly compromised..you state:

In Reality (as seems to be the sentence for this topic).  CS moved to the modular retail solution with the 757.  You bought the product in blocks so you can enjoy the aircraft as they develop it.  You get what they finish.  This also means they can concentrate on one part at a time to bring it out for you to enjoy as quickly as they can.  This was not embraced by everyone but it is a policy they have stuck to.  They are also working on multiple projects with a team that can’t be much bigger than when they worked on the 757.

CS moved to the modular retail solution with the 757???...so what does that mean for the end user..ie the PAYING customer??...buy half now..HOPE and PRAY the other much needed half  or bits and pieces will appear ONLY MAYBE if capt sim feels like it in a few more yrs!!!...so why do we still have their F117 with a f18 vc??...if you or anyone else subscribe to this increasingly prevalent  policy all you are doing is supporting any further half baked future releases from Capt sim...cant you see that?

You say ''They are also working on multiple projects with a team that can’t be much bigger than when they worked on the 757.''
Well in my opinion they would be better finishing one project in a professionally accepted way before starting a dozen others (how many of them are without internal models??????)...

Finally you for some weird reason feel like making the bold statement that   '' Captain Sim doesn’t accept any impolite behavior in there forum''.....

I am fully aware of Capt sims Forum Etiquette..i also realise that impolite or immature argumentative behaviour is not acceptable on ANY forum!...not withstanding just Capt sims!..however i am also aware that in order to recieve feedback they must appreciate tha tnot everyone will be sweet and rosy all the time!

Of course they will also receive valuable and free! feedback from their customers and any future potential customers and that's invaluable if they so wish to continue to consolidate their Number one place in the fsim PAYWARE world so they will also have to be realistic with their forums and not just expect to listen to a few die hard devotes who for some strange reason are still not seeing the bigger picture on what's happening here!

Anyway i thank you for you input and please be assured i have nothing personal against you or anyone else on this forum or Capt sim and their fine team of skilled people that give us so much ....all i want is a decent INTERIOR MODEL with every EXTERIOR....AS IN MOST freeware  AND EVEN LETS BE HONEST THE DEFAULT fsx AIRCRAFT!.....IS IT REALLY TOO MUCH TO ASK???...couldnt they have at leat released thsi with a BETA VC..then later the pro version!??......like i said...i will not be buying this model now...and i doubt a lot of others will be!

.....am very annoyed Capt sim even expects ANYONE to want to buy a plane with a cockpit!....whats next...no wheels??...or no wings??...where does one draw the line?....

A 747 VC/2d Panel in a B-52 is outrageous and insulting to serious flight simmers.

Maybe beginners who don't know the difference will  buy it?

Hmm...  Quite the discussion has popped up since I've been gone :p

I appreciate the disappointment of those who are now upset that the exterior model is only being released.  Naturally, we all want more, and so do I.  This could be that Captain Sim is gauging the market for a B-52 and will go from there on the interior and systems, or it could be that perhaps they needed more funds right now and decided to make the exterior available.

If you think about it, the B-52 is a somewhat unconventional choice.  You see a goodly amount of airliners being made, lots of GA aircraft, a few fighters, but very few complex military bombers.  As a matter of fact, if Captain Sim went all the way with this I fancy it would be the only bomber for FSX that I would call truly complex.  For this reason I rather think that they are gauging the market for it.

In any case, I think I'll get it.  Their modeling is superb, and I rather fancy that I could win a few screenshot contests with it and recoup my 9 euros.

But, this is just my opinion.  I hope I won't be attacked for it.

Thank you all for your comments.

Just to confirm, as for to date, the B-52 product is just an exterior only with nothing else promised.
So if you like the model, you pay 9.99 (thank you!) and you enjoy the model as is.
If you do not need an exterior without VC/systems, then we are sorry we can't help you today.

As for the future, we will see what the future will bring us.

Yes I agree to FSXaddict... It is sad because I was looking forward to at least a VC in the near future. I'm truly sorry to say that I will not put my money towards this exterior as long as there is not an VC...
Just because CS VC's are the best on the market and I'm buying CS products mainly because of the VC.

I am a newcomer to FSX in the last couple months and I have been eyeing CS products from day one especially the B-52 along with every other avid simmer out there! Until I have a guarantee of a Cockpit I cannot bring myself to buy this product or any other cs's products until I at least see a response by staff on their own forums. I want to know the forums are moderated and post's are replied to by CS staff when they have the time along with products being finished when started.

WOW WOW WOW..
What a heated thread...
I just received the mail from CS about the new BUFF. And after a quick check inline - a surprice - the plane has no VC... End of story.

What so problematic for you there -

No VC ---> No buy
VC ---> buy  :D............. as simple as that (actually not that simple - I would rather waith for patch 1.4 or maybe 1.5...)

Bought it! And very happy!!!  ;D

But please someone from CS can say something aboutt the FDE please? I don´t know if it´s correct in a B52 to go over 400 KIAS in takeoff. It climbs like a rocket!!! Can someone with more knowledge them me say something about it? Nothing that a quick tweak in the cfg could not correct.

PS: I personally LOVED the wingflex in this model.

WOW!!! What a heated topic.   I definitely don't want to take sides on this one....might end up a victim of a drive-by.   But I will make my comments anyway.   I can understand both sides of this discussion.  IF THE PRICE WERE HIGHER,  I would definitely expect an accurate VC.   But we are only paying 9.99 for an awesome looking external model with a working, not an accurate,  but WORKING VC.  The flight dynamics are pretty accurate too,  with the nose down attitude during takeoffs and landing and during most of its flight regime.  And for the post asking to clarify the power and speed it is capable of,  yes,  all is quite accurate.   One thing the BUFF pilots have to worry about alot is overspeeding,  especially with the flaps extended. I don't HAVE TO HAVE a truley accurate VC to enjoy flying this plane,  and if I need the feel of a B-52 interior,  I do have a B-52 2D panel that will serve the purpose.   So for only 9.99 you are really getting a great bargain,  and with Captainsim's post on what is included and what is not included,   you know what you are getting.  I am glad that people are expressing their frustrations about no realistic VC.  It is what is needed to let Captainsim know how many want the VC.   I just think some of the posts are a little too heated for the price of what we are getting.  I feel that the VC may have ended up being more of a project than Captainsim realized it would be,  so they are using this forum to help them decide if it would be worth their while to devote much more resources into such a project.   I have spent 10 years working on the real thing,  so I know what the interior looks like.  It is quite a bit different than an airliner,  and also quite different than a C-130.   Being a true combat aircraft with a unique Nav, Radar Nav,  EWO and Gunner position to possibly model would be a grwat undertaking,  requiring some very unique gauges.
Just to reitterate,  I do understand both sides of this discusion,  and by no means care to take sides.  It may be hard to understand,  since I have bought the model,  but I too wouuld love to have an authentic VC.   I just didn't let it keep me from buying it.   It is my honest opinion that the more people who buy the external model,  the more likely we will be to see a VC made for it.   I also feel that for those who put nasty comments on here without buying the low cost external model aren't really helping the decision making process at all.   You just might be suprised how well the 747 VC actually works with the B-52.  It is not authentic,  but it does work well,  and you CAN fly the plane perfectly with it.

My own comments to Captainsim:   Thank you so much for the outstanding exterior model.   It is extremely detailed.   I love it 110%!   An I love the way it flies.   It really puts all of the other B-52 models,  payware and freeware,  to shame.    It's nice to have at least this much to enjoy now while we wait to see if a good VC will come later.   Even if one doesn't,  I am totally satisfied with this work of art.   Even if you would have charged more,  I would have still bought it.   It is totally worth it.   My Hat's off to you.   Grat job!!!

I've also thought that too. Of course. This does not mean that they will either. I always took Captain Sim's post as "a VC is a possibility, but not a definite", as I stated in my earlier post.

Captain Sim,

Just bought it and I LOVE it!Awesome model and with a bit of tweaking of the cfg contact point entries and effects files I have even figured out a way to correct the over aggressive touchdown effects of the outer wheels. Will buy the VC for sure if you ever decide to proceed with it but for now, perfectly happy to fly it in the 400 VC.

If you read the latter parts of this topic HERE, you will find that Captain Sim have not promised to provide a VC for the B-52. But. On the other side, they have not said they won't make a VC either. To me this means that they will make a VC if they want to, but do not have to if they don't want to. For now the B-52 is with the default 747 VC and that may never change. ;)
