KC-135 turbofan engines
Dec 29th, 2010, 9:46am

Its just an idea I got.. Is the tanker going to be fitted with turbofans? looks almost like 737 CFM engines.

No offense, but they don't suit the look of the 707, so I hope not.

I do understand the reasons why they are using them in real life, but we could get by without using them in FSX. Wink

Non taken  Smiley You are right, they do look a little weird on the 707, but they do exists. Just a thought since many AWACS and tankers are fitted with them.

Yeah. The newer engines are cleaner, more powerful and more economical, but they just don't look right on the 707. I have seen pics of them before with the newer engines.

Someone else provided a link to a photo of a 707 with winglets, but I don't think they suit the older "classic" looks of the 707 either. I say stick with her classic looks and don't modernize her.

I am absoloutly not giving up the classic, her good old look is the sexiest, for sure  Smiley But if it shows up in a different layout, I think I take both. I kind of like to have tried an upgraded version too. Maybe even an upgraded flight-deck. But without dumping the smoke-farting queen. (I kind of love the thick brown-black smoke) Less environmentally friendly, more fun.  Cheesy

I was working on a good old DC-8 as a loading crew, with both type of engines, when I was loading ammo going into a warzone I think. It was the B737 CFM engines and the old originals. On different acations of course.

Thanks for your opinion. I have to say I agree with you. Let the 707 stay as a 707. Cant wait to get my hands on the freighter though.

It dosent look that bad. Not the same as the original 707 engines, but still pretty good.

The KC-135 is NOT a 707.  The old A-models looked very sleek with the J57s, but the R-model engines just makes the jet look pretty dominating.  88,000 pounds of thrust can be a lot of fun.

Exactly, and too bad that the KC and 707 have completely different airframes. As much as I would love to get any KC-135 model by CS, I assume it will not happen due to the structural differences.

On the other hand getting an updated E3 with the CFM engines (UK, SA or FR) also ranks quite high on my wishlist and I would also love an E-8C Joint Stars model, I definitely would buy either model.

Best Regards,
Marc

I support the idea since that is what 707's look like nowadays. However I would love a 707 with original turbojet engines. (And an authentic sound set)
