Clean Livery and Clean Cocpit panels please
12.07.2010 at 02:59:48

Lets face it, if I where the CEO of any airline company flying around dirty, stained and rusty I would fire my CTO. This is my hobby why do I have to look at a 30 year old garbage panel with paint flaking off and the seams of the pilot seat cracked - in a multimillion dollar airplane which I just bought legally ? I mean I really do not see the point of simulating a badly mantained airplane which would probably be grounded in most european airports. I would really appreaciate a clean and well mantained airplane something I am proud of flying. Thank you.

I like it in my opinion, it adds to the realism.

And I highly doubt any 757 cockpit (which was in production between 1982 and 2004) has a perfect cockpit like your describing.

And unless the chipping paint is either a danger (like if a label or warning is no longer visible) or the paint is completely gone, it probably isn't repainted even once a year.

Now, I'm not a airline pilot in real life, but think of it this way: Why spend the money to remove an aircraft from service and have the cockpit repainted when there is are a few scratches and chipped paint and not obstructing any labels? So that it looks pretty to the pilots?

Perform some real flights on a real 757/767 and you'll see that real aircraft are like that... Used and Dirty... Clean and repaint airplanes are extremely expensive for a company.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.  The other 757 copied the look of Captain Sim's cockpit.  I like it, but it is purely a matter of personal taste.

That is quite an ignorant statement. It might come as a surprise but I have flown more than 100 times around this globe in all kinds of airplanes in most of the worlds airlines throughout my professional life. I know exactly what real airplanes should look like. I also know where to find the worlds dirtiest, you only need to visit the nation of the mighty and greedy where money is more important than soap and esthetics to see that even junk still takes off for profit. Which is confirmed by this Hitlist of the dirtiest airlines and a similar discussion here.
That still does not mean that I agree with it.

And though I agree that there is an artistic challange to it, I doubt dirt and hydraulic fluid dripping from the wings increase customer confidence in the real and flight experience in the virtual world.

I agree with the statement that Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but why would an artist want to imitate, and a pilot want to fly a badly maintained airplane rather than a good one is beyond me unless they are ignorant that those exists.

Don't get me wrong, I like flying the plane in simulation for its detailed performance as well as in real for its capability to survive a lot of hard landings. I just hate that dirty SIM outfit. But as said it is a question of taste, some have it others don't.

I think that "used a/c" of CS 757 and 767 realised very good, VC cockpit especially. Just look at MCP glareshield.

Isn't it funny that a company fulfills the demands of the vast majority of users to let their aircraft look "real" and therefor somehow dirty and used, and then has to read that they should offer clean textures.

I'm aware that the perfect solution would be to have both options (I#d always choose the real one, meaning dirty), but I think that CS made a very good choice when going for a realistic and used look especially in the VC.
As far as liveries a concerned, I think there are enough used and brand new looking ones available.

If you look at other devs that go for a used look, you'll find that they usually earn praises for this extra work on building a sim aircraft.

Maybe another user and graphics artist can help you with clean textures. Funny to see that the user modification on another popular 767 (it enabled used looks) is the most welcome and followed mod there.
