Has anyone been able to add the freeware KLN90 GPS to the 727? I would like to add this to my panel but have a clickspot on the non functioning GPS unit in the virtual cockpit. Can anyone guide me on how to do this? especially the latter since I've never been good with clickspots.

I have installed the KLN90 and appears to work properly.

The click-spot in the virtual cabin is coded to toggle 'GPS_PANEL' that will open the GPS unit.

In the panel.cfg you would change: ident=18000 to ident=GPS_PANEL

The code below is for replacing the default GPS with the KLN90.
Note: the ';' character will deactivate each line. You can safely leave the original GPS line entries and then restore at a later time if you wish.

The KLN90 works well with the L-1011 but I keep having CTD before I can finish a flight.

This is a known issue with much discussion about the problem on the developer's website.
