Captain Sim 767 300 FMC

Hi every one !!
I have recently bought my very first payware Captain Sim 767 300.
( I donot have 757 ).

I have read the tutorials to program FMC but when I try to vreate a flight plan from KLAX to KLAS, the route I get is different from the one given in the tutorial.

I request for a proper guidance to program FMC in Captain Sim 767 300.

For example if I want to fly between VOMM and VOHY, the FS X plight planner gives the route as :

Airport      VOMM
VOR            MMV
Intersection      BODEL
VOR            HHY
Airport            VOHY
Cruise Alt      20000

How to program Captain767 300 FMC for the above ?

Also after programing the FLC what procedures are to be adopted while take off and landing?

Line by line guidance will be very useful to me.

Thanks to one and all for proper guidance.

Thanks for the reply Howell.

As already stated in my mail, I have gone through the tutorials - the one you have suggested as well as those by Markos and Aussie in this forum.

Still I had some doubts - yes it is my very first payware,  a specialised one as rightly claimed by many in the forum  and hence doubts are bound to be there for people like me. I thought I can seek the help from experts in the forum who will guide me with full details and hence that request.

Sorry to have wasted the precious time of many members of the forum.

Thanks again

Hi tupular

I am working on doing a small tutorial for you. It just progressing slower than I had hoped. All the CDU screenshots, that are needed, are done (I think), but getting them in order and modifying them is taking more time than expected.

I plan to have it done in PDF format so you it can be download when it's done.

I am getting there, slowly. Sad

Crap! I had to start over. Sad

Over the last 6 months, or so, I've been switching between v1.4 and v1.5. The flight that I did the other day was perfect, but trying to redo it again today, to help gather correct info and a few missing screenshots, my 767 would not use LNAV. The LNAV button was lit, but it was white on the ADI, so it wasn't working. I could only use HDG SEL or HDG HOLD! So I've just reinstalled the 767-300 Base Pack to get it working again. Once done, I started from scratch. Most of the images are done and ready, now all I need to do is write the tutorial around the images and save it. I am redoing the flight now. Embarrassed

Sorry !!  Angry

If this happen to experts like you Markoz,  think about the struggle a newbie like me has to undergo.

I do all the things as per the tutorials and half way through the flight the VNAV gets disengaged !  Sad

All further adjustments are to be made manually and it is nothing better or special - just like the normal aircrafts where you do all the settings in  AP (GPS and NAV).  This is after doing all the fixes as suggested by you Markoz in a different tutorial.

My biggest problem is I am unable to understand one thing - after doing every thing in FMC if I have to again go on manipulating the A/P (speed and altitude)  then what is great or special about this aircraft ? But every one claims so and I would definitely like to know the tricks so that I can also call this aircraft a great one !!

Awaiting your tutorial

Hi Tupulur.

When I first bought the 767 v1.0 (the day it was released), I was pretty much a newbie at using the FMC (from 1983 to 2009 all my Flight Simulator flying was with GA aircraft, not airliners). The incident I mentioned above was the first time this has happened to me! And as I said in my post, for months, I have been flitting between v1.4 and v1.5, sometimes even having them both installed at the same time. I suspect that I messed up and was using a combination of 1.4 and 1.5 of the 767, which won't work, so I uninstalled, removed any leftovers, then reinstalled v1.5 and it works properly again.

It isn't Captain Sim's fault if I messed around with the installation of two different versions and caused a problem. I was doing it at my own risk, so it was my fault, not theirs.

Hi Markoz,

Please..... I never said it is the fault of the aircraft - 767 Captain. I wanted to convey that I would like to pick up all the threads regarding this aircraft and the FMC so that I can also enjoy the best things of the aircraft.

Awaiting your tutorial and thanks for your guidance

Sorry if I misunderstood what you said when you said If this happen to experts like you Markoz,  think about the struggle a newbie like me has to undergo. It was just how it came across to me. Embarrassed

I was also saying that I had only been using complex airliners (aircraft that use an FMC) for a short time, (only about 3 months) when Captain Sim released the 767-300 Base Pack v1.0. So I was still learning the complexities of these types of aircraft at that time, yet I never had it do what yours is doing to you.

Unfortunately, I have no idea of how long you have been using aircraft that use an FMC, since you've never really said, so I'm guessing it is more than 3 months. Undecided

One more question.
What Navigation Database are you using? The one thtat comes with the 767 v1.5? Or do you update them monthly with NavDataPro or Navigraph subscription(s). I'm only asking because I will base my tutorial on whichever version you are using (I have all of them from 1002 to 1307 (Navigraph)). I have a 13 cycle subscription with NavDataPro, but I don't like the way it works so it is out of date (I haven't updated it for a few months now). Besides all that, I found both to be very similar anyway, especially with the changes that Navigraph made since their renewed AIRAC cycle 1301.

Aha. That might help explain why I couldn't see which SID and STAR you were selecting in the email you sent, where it looks like you didn't select any at all.

Okay. I reinstall that AIRAC and restart the tutorial. Should only require minor changes to the images and the written information that I have done so far.

In the mean time, have you tried doing the 757-200 FMC Tutorial? I know it's for the 757, but the FMC is identical in both the 757 and 767, so it's something to try while I complete a "proper" one for the 767.

Tried doing that many a times. Again the problem is Aussie's route is different and what I get is different. When I try to input the WPs as per Aussie's  I get an error "Not in  Database'.

Another AHA moment for me. That clarifies this line:
I have read the tutorials to program FMC but when I try to vreate a flight plan from KLAX to KLAS, the route I get is different from the one given in the tutorial.
in you original post. But then the one you included images of in your email to me were KLAX to KSFO (which is the route I am using in the tutorial).

Yes Sir.
I have tried many already available tutorials and am still trying. When I sent my first mail to you I have used the example using the KLAX - KSFO route and included the pictures.
Even now I am trying many different routes while awaiting the tutorial from your end.
Sorry if I am not able to convey things properly.........
Please send me the tutorial at the earliest so that I can try that one.
Hope I am not bothering you..........
