To get it to work in P3Dv2. The JF L-1011's Panel folder (with gauges, bmp's and panel.cfg), Texture.Cockpit folder, Sound folder and the jf_Tristar_VC.MDL (from the model folder), were copied over to the CS_L-1011. It works. Of course I had to modify the panel.cfg so the gear was show, plus add the Animations Panel. I had to edit the aircraft.cfg (eyepoint, TurbineEngineData and interior views because they are different to the CS_L-1011) and all texture.cfg (so the VC textures were displayed).

Just picked up the L-1011 on sale.   Man, she sure is a beaut.   In AP she appears to fly pretty good but the moment I take off AP or even take off I get a severe bank to the right of 45-60 degrees?

Made sure my Yoke was calibrated, working good.  Made sure I didn't have some other axis active that could be screwing it up but that's what it feels like.  I guess I am wondering if anybody else has experienced this?

(sorry to butt into this topic but because of CS forum rules this is what you get.)

At first I thought my JF L-1011 was a lemon. It happened on a dozen consecutive flights. I even reinstalled FSX because of it (wel partially because of it). It had worked perfectly on the first 2 or 3 tutorial flights I had done (I always do tutorials multiple times so I learn the systems)!
Only thing is, when this happens to me, it inverts and crashes. None of this 45-60 degree banking, it just keeps rolling over! As far as I can tell, it happens when I switch the A/P from HDG SEL to NAV and both lights extinguish, yet something still causes it to bank (to well over 90 degrees for me)! I've done a few flights lately when it didn't happen, and I'm pretty sure I get around this by turning HDG SEL Off, waiting a moment to make sure it is stable, THEN turning NAV mode On. I'm just not totally sure of what I do lately to avoid this. I'll take it for a spin and take notes of the steps I take to prevent it.

Note: The way to avoid it might be as part of the instructions in the tutorial flight, as the last few flights that worked fine, were my redoing the tutorial.

Ah,... so I am not going crazy.  Cheesy

Yea, actually it does continue to roll on it's side if I don't fight.  Have to keep the Yoke left at about 45% to keep her steady.  I did notice in AP during a climb she tends to "wobble" from side-to-side, maybe it's fighting itself to stay straight and level.  Yes, I was messin' with HDG too so maybe there's a certain procedure you can discover as a work-around.

Oh, and my setup is just the default with the Airbus A321 as the VC... no merge.  Plus I am running it in P3Dv2.  She's just too "purty" to leave in the hangar   Cry

I was not able to fight it when it did it. It just rolled over and dived into the ground. It didn't help that it has always happened at low altitude (2000 to 5000 feet)! I'll have another go at it later, and see if I can determine exactly what I need to do to prevent it.

EDIT

I've just been messing around with the jf L-1011. The way to prevent the loss of control is simple.

Either turn HDG SEL Mode OFF BEFORE turning NAV mode ON - OR - turn NAV Mode OFF BEFORE tuning HDG SEL On!

I will do some more tests to see at what banking degree it seems to go awry. At 2-5 degrees, it seems to be okay to switch modes using the method above. I'm pretty sure that at a rather steep bank, it could come apart.

Tried it but mine had no effect.  Granted, I am using the default install of using the Airbus A321 VC.  Wonder if that may have an effect.  Is anyone else out there seeing this?

So your problem was with the CS L-1011-1 WITHOUT using the merge with the JF L-1011? I've never had a problem  with the CS L-1011 over banking when using it with the default A321! The problem I described above occurs only in the L-1011 WITH the the merged JF L-1011 VC.

Seeing as you mentioned it in this topic, I had assumed that you had done the merge and then encountered the problem like I did. Sorry.

Mmmm... yea no special merge yet.  Now I am using it in P3Dv2 so I had to copy over the A321 stuff over.  Maybe there is a gauge  missing?  I did the install directly into P3dv2 using the migration.  Maybe I should try installing into FSX and then copy over?

I copied over the A321 to P3Dv1.4 for the same reason, but because I copied the CS L-1011 from FSX into P3Dv2 after I had done the merge, all the things I need from the JF L-1011 went with it. Grin

I found my problem.  I had my trim wheel assigned to the aileron trim rather than elevator trim.  Well that would do it, ha!  Grin
