Not sure I understand the question, but...all variants of the CS130 share the same cockpit.  There is no separate version for the H versus the J models.

The question was if there was a plan for the C-130J digital main instrument panel with overhead and forward and aft center consoles to match.   Pretty much from what I've gathered over the years it was a possibility but not likely to happen.   The current panel is an E/H1 version panel not even up to the H3 configuration.

It wouldn't be hard to come up with a digital instrument package using some existing configurations CS has developed but unless technical data is used from the real world J it won't be exact.   It would only be simulated glass cockpit.

As far as I know the C130J or C130-30J comes out with a Glass cockpit.

The SAAF still has C130b aircraft in their fleet with very low milage. They have upgraded it through Marshall and Cavendish or something like that to the C130BZ. It now features full glass cockpits. I think maybe the Brittish AF may also have upgraded some of their aircraft to glass cockpits, as I know they have stretched some of their aircraft to mark 3.

I am sure someone will be able to modify the panel files to something that will be acceptable as glass cockpits. I will not try it as I personnaly like the analogue panels.

I'm in the Air Force, J model cockpit is totally different to the E/H models.  I would love to know if Capt. Sim has any  plans to introduce this cockpit version.  Smiley Smiley Smiley

XXDan is right.  The Hurricane Hunters C-130Js have different panels.  They are using modern airline looking electronic panels that you would normally find in 777s or 787s or so on. You can see the cool panel in Hurricane Hunters tv show.

I wish Captain Sim will offer 2D modern panel that is same as the Hurricane Hunters C-130Js.  If they insist on 5 buck fee for upgrade to new panel, I would say it is worth the price.

Also,  the propellers on Hurricane Hunters C-130Js are different too.

Really wouldn't matter if it was a weather bird or just a slick J model they have the same flight deck configurations..   When you start talking about KC/HC/MC-130J now there is some differences.   The J model was made with a standard dark cockpit design concept using the same 1553 panels.  Those could easily be replicated by CS with help from Lockheed.  Problem would be the CNI-MU functionality which is close to a FMS but with differences.  That would need some work to get that close enough.
Or they could just develop a glass configuration to get it better than the older E model instrument panels they currently have.
But I still think we shouldn't hold our breathe as updates were supposed to happen since 2008 and haven't been completed.  I would be extremely happy if they did come out with some fixes.     We can hope.

Ok...Captain Sim CANNOT redo a TRUE J virtual cockpit as this would require a new interior model.

I am still disapointed as they did not at least do a 2D J panel.....

Captian sim will probably frown on this but yes you can modify the 2d panel and have a glass cockpit......

I did mine by downloading the FS2004 Mike Stone C-130J from flightsim dot com.

I replaced a few of the PFD and MFD with gauges from the IRIS C-27J as it uses the same avionics suite.

I replaced my copilot 2d panel section with the information from the stone J panel...

everything is normal captain sim...until you press the copilot button and then it turns into a J model. All the built in captain sim featues are not disturbed!!!

I apologize for taking this a little off topic.  I am using the FSX version of CAPTAIN SIM C130.  I cannot get the MINI PANEL to work/display on any version.  It shows as "WINDOW 20" in the Panel Config.  At best it display for less than an instant.  All variations of the model work perfectly except for this one Window.

Window20=Mini Panel

[Window20]
position=7
size_mm=645,122
windowsize_ratio=1.25
child_3d=1
background_color=0,0,0
no_luminous=1
visible=1
ident=MINIPANEL
gauge00=KingAir!Airspeed,          0,  16
gauge01=KingAir!Turn_Coordinator, 95,  28
gauge02=KingAir!Attitude,         166, 0
gauge03=KingAir!Hsi,              300, 0
gauge04=KingAir!Altimeter,        434, 9
gauge05=KingAir!Vsi,              543, 10

Your assistance is most appreciated

You need to clarify that you added Window20=MINI PANEL (as advised in my email) and that it's not included by Captain Sim.
Besides that, with, or without, this window, you have still have the same problem - I cannot get the MINI PANEL to work/display on any version.  It shows as "WINDOW 20" in the Panel Config.  At best it display for less than an instant.

It appears that this is blocked by the Main Panel (Window00=Main Panel). If I go to the Cockpit View (default F10), press SHIFT+1 to remove the Main Panel, then press "W", the Main Panel reappears. So it's possible that something in here:

[Window00]
size_mm=1024,768
background_color=0,0,0
position=4
visible=1
render_3d_window=0
ident=MAIN_PANEL
gauge00=Captain_Sim.c130.sound!main, 0,0,10,10, Captain_Sim\130\sound.ini
gauge01=Captain_Sim.c130.main!main, 15,0,10,10
gauge02=Captain_Sim.c130.electric!main, 30,0,10,10
gauge03=Captain_Sim.c130.fuel!main, 40,0,10,10
gauge04=Captain_Sim.c130.left!main, 0,0,1024,768
gauge05=Captain_Sim.c130.engine.analogue!1, 753,391,271,377
gauge06=Captain_Sim.c130.radar!RADAR, 617,217,157,158
gauge07=Captain_Sim.c130.engine!fdump, 0,0,1,1
gauge08=Captain_Sim.c130.ramp!smoke, 1,1,1,1
gauge09=Captain_Sim.c130.engine!mod, 1,1,1,1

is the cause. Worst case, it's in the gauge code, so only the removal of the gauge from the panel, will allow the Mini Panel to appear and remain on the screen.

Thinking this through, I wonder if any of this:

[VIEWS]
VIEW_FORWARD_WINDOWS=MAIN_PANEL,RADIO_STACK_PANEL,THROTTLE_PANEL,GPS_PANEL,10115
,11000,11001,11002,11003,11005,11006,11007,11008,11009,11010,11011,11012,11013
VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=8.0,0.0,0.0

could be a cause? It would need to be tested to see if it was. Undecided

Anyone know if there are any directions OR guidance as to how to modify the FSX version of the Captain Sim C-130 Experience (J-Model Panels) with glass cockpit panels?  I understand that one can use the FSX 2004 C-130 panels from Mike Stone to replace gauges.  Any other specifics available?  I certainly do not want to mess up my original Capt Sim version, so any guidance would be extremely helpful.

Thanks!

Nobody can answer that?   Can anybody upload this new panel on flightsim or avsim so that we can enjoy it for C-130J Captain Sim, please?

Thanks,

I wasn't interested in a 2D panel, so I never asked where he got it. Sorry.

You might have to wait until Wfriendman1971 returns to the forum (Last Online: 23.12.2013 at 02:43:36) to answer your question. Undecided
