I've got most of CS planes working with Windows 8, but I'm having  fatal errors when I install the 767. Any ideas?

I've had some success with Captain Sim products in Windows 8, but not with all of them. Like you, some seem to cause fatal errors. The thing to be aware of is that none of the Captain Sim products a certified for Windows 8 (yet). Undecided

I'm not sure if I have even tested the 767 in Windows 8 yet. Seeing as I did not start a topic on it, makes me think that I haven't. Sadly, FSX in my Windows 8 keeps Crashing To Desktop, so I have given up on it for now. Sad

Thanks Mark, I guess I'll have to persevere. I've had quite a lot of help from AV*** Win 8 forum, mainly installing FSUIPC4 and uiautomation.
The 777 seems to work OK.

Hi Ron.

I'm currently doing a flight in the CS 767-300 (YMML - YSCB) and it's working fine, so far.

The above flight, from YMML to YSCB, worked fine from beginning to end. I did another flight from YMML to YSSY that also worked fine from beginning to end. So for me, the Captain Sim 767 is working perfectly fine in FSX with Windows 8.

I've heard of some yoke problems with WIN 8 . Try the WIN 8 forums at AV***. they may have some ideas.

Can't seem to start a new thread, so I'll tack onto this one.

Privyet! I have Win 8.1, FSX w/Accel Pack, and just purchased CS 767 base pack.  I've loaded the 767 using Run as Administrator and I can get to the VC, but half of the VC appears disabled. Cockpit lighting controls (both sides) and the MCP are functional. The instrument panel, aisle panel, and overhead panel are non-functional.  PFDs, MFDs, and CDUs show as black rectangles.  Even if you try and go to Views|Instrument Panels|CDU you just get an undocked black rectangle.  Other instrument panel views from the overhead panel are clickable when you bring them up, but the Overhead Panel selection under Cockpit is not. I have a screenshot of the cockpit, but the site won't let me attach it until I've sent 10 posts.

You might need to run FSX as an administrator as well (especially if FSX is in installed in its default location (C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86)).

I've installed FSX in C:\FSX to avoid that problem and I run FSX.EXE as an administrator from there.  Incidentally, I can run the CS 757-200 just fine on my computer. (Well, except for that pesky T/D problem in the FMS. Even using your "fix", the altitudes change briefly, then revert back to the "cruise all night" values.)  Roll Eyes

In those fixes, they often need a few tries to work. If doing it to one waypoint doesn't work, try another. It can sometimes take 1/2 a dozen tries for me to get it (in the 757), but in the 767, it only takes a few tries normally.

With the 767 trouble, try uninstalling/reinstalling it again to see if that helps. I might take another look at the 767 in Win8.1, see if it works okay for me (although I am sure I tried all Captain Sim products for FSX in Win8.1). Undecided

In the interest of Full Disclosure, I should list my full configuration:

Win 8.1 Professional x64
FSX w/Accel Pack and DirectX 10 Preview enabled
nVidia GTX 770 running in Surround mode (three widescreen monitors as a single display with a 4th auxiliary monitor)

It could be  the DirectX 10 contributing to the problem.  I have a well known 738NGX payware that handles this just fine, though, so I'm not inclined to drop back to DX9 anytime soon.
