How to download the 757 4.6 update? (Read 10046 times)

	I've tried checking my external download service under my FSX 757-200 Base Pack. However there no 4.6 update link, just the regular link to download the Base Pack. Any help?

	Check-in to Your Profile > Select the 757-200 Base Pack (FSX) > Extended Download Service > Get New Links The new links will be the full 757-200 Base Pack version 4.6 (csp751_4600.exe). If you also own the 757-300 and Freighter Expansion models, you will need version 4.6 of those as well. Do not delete your 4.4 installation files (csp751_4400.exe, csx753_4400.exe & csx754_4400.exe), just in case you have problem with v4.6. Mark

	Hi, Sorry struggling to get any more info on this. I'm trying to re-download my FSX 757 base pack after a couple of years and unfortunately the extended download link is for SP1.4 only. Just wondering how I can get SP4.6? Cheers

	The Extended Download Service should only give you links for the 757 v4.6. Getting a link for v1.4, it sounds like you are selecting the wrong product. I think the 757 for FSX started at v4.0.

	Thanks for the quick reply. Apologies if I'm off on a tangent here as I purchased the product a while ago (2006). It's the 757-200 Expansion pack (FSX), I originally brought the FS9 model. The only option I have on the extendable download link is: csx752_1400.exe. Obviously I can't get hold of Captain Sim themselves so this was my only option...??

	You need to submit a new ticket: Check-in to Your Profile > Product > Customer Support > Search KB or Submit New Ticket.

	Hi, I recently downloaded the 757 base pack and freighter (latest version v 4.6) and it works great. However when I download and install repaints from the CS repaint website (in this case the FedEx repaint with the RR engines) I don't hear the engine sounds. All the other sounds are ok. The engine sounds on the DHL livery that came with the freighter download is ok and it has the RR engines, so not sure what the problem is. Thanks for any help.

	For the FedEx with RR engines, the details in the aircraft.cfg [fltsim.xx] section for it need to be as follows: sim=cs757-FRR model=RR sound=RR That last one, sound=RR, is the key. If you only have sound=, then you are not telling FSX which engine sounds to use. Without seeing the [fltsim.xx] entry from your aircraft.cfg, I'm just guessing that's the problem.

	Thanks again Mark. I am new at finding and changing files so not sure where this file is. Is it under sim objects/airplanes, or somewhere else. ? And once I find it what do I open it with, notepad? Thanks again. mtj

	Hi Mark, Under the cs757 main folder>variants>FedEx_N936_RR folder the description reads as follows: [texture] sim=cs757-F model=RR texture=Fedex_N936FD_RR atc_id=N936FD atc_airline=Fedex atc_flight_number= ui_manufacturer=Boeing ui_createdby=Captain Sim ui_type=Boeing 757-200 Freighter RR ui_variation=Fedex N936FD The description makes no mention of the sound as you mentioned, but of course this is only the description of the repaint, and not the config folder/file. Again can't find the config file you mention. Thanks

	The texture should have the following: [texture] model=RR texture=un_03 atc_id=1234 atc_airline=1234 atc_flight_number=1234 ui_manufacturer=Boeing ui_createdby=Captain Sim ui_type=757-200 RR ui_variation= United Airlines, 2003 JS description='757 Captain' \n (c) 2008 Captain Sim www.captainsim.com \n United Airlines, 2003. Free livery, repaint by John Smith. I see that the one that you posted has this line: sim=cs757-F. The "sim" or .air file used by the CS B757-200F with RR engines is sim=cs757-FRR, while the .air file used by the CS B757-200F with PW engines uses the sim=cs757-F. So I recommend that (1) you use "Delete Variation" in the ACE to remove the new livery, (2) remove the sim=cs757-F line from the description.text, and (3) add the livery again using ACE. See if doing all that fixes it.

	Mark, I corrected the description in notepad as you suggested and in addition found that the sound setting in the aircraft config file (finally found it) had no value so added RR and it fixed the problem. Thanks so much for your help, I learned a lot. mtj
