Just didn't seem right to not have the Boeing Test plane repainted.

Got a little more work to do on it and I'll have it uploaded.  Struggling to find good pictures of it though for all the logo's that are on the nose.

Uploading soon

Thanks Dave.

It's looking good and I look forward to getting my hands on it.

It is very hard to deciede on which colour is which.  There are not that many photo's around of this bird.  In all of the ones I have found, the tail and side stripes are dark brown and the lettering is black.  There is a black cheat line too along the white.

I used this one as the defining image

The worst thing are the logo's on the nose.  I can not get any good close ups to correctly identify them.

I've uploaded it to Avsim and is now available

Direct link

http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=ftp&DLID=162988

File name

737_dem.zip

Through doing a search just now for more images I have found an error.  I'll make a fix and upload v2 of the repaint.

I'm just working on an Air California scheme at the moment.

Dave

(PS PJ747 - Got your message and I'll see what I can do for the Delta 767.)

Can you do the Delta widget for the 737-200 next?

David,

Those are beautiful paints.

A couple questions from a newbie painter.  I noticed the print you used for research.

Is there a good source for these on other airframes?  Like the 727 and 707?

Also, if you do the widget Delta scheme...

Can you give me some tips on aligning that tail logo?

Painting on the CS psd for the tail on the 737 has driven me insane!  It is in two pieces and offset and is messing me up on complex tail art.

Thanks

Dan

Hi Dan

I tend to just use Google images.  Stick a tail number or simple description.  For the Boeing demonstrator, I just used "N73700" and "Boeing 737-200 demonstrator" and "Boeing 737-100 House colours".

Airliners.net is by far my favourite though.  Lots of very good images.

Best way to get the tail done is make a PSD on the tail complete.  Make a duplicate of the tail.  Move the rudder in to position.  Then when you have it aligned.  Transfer it over to the master PSD.

Dave

Thanks for sharing that template. It certainly will make doing textures easier.

What I do is duplicate the image in Photoshop and "Multiply" it and make sure it is always the top layer. Works like a charm. All the detail is available. Make sure all new layers are below the top multiply layer
Also turn off the original layer(template) that is at the bottom.

I just need to get motivated again.

Looking forward to the widget.

To take from a Guiness commercial...

Genius!

I tried the align method several times and just could not get it right.  I am going back to the woodshed on this as soon as I can get Chapters 1 - 3 finished up for my committee chair.

Would you believe the desire to avoid my dissertation drove me to learn to repaint aircraft?

I noticed on the most recent repaint that your fuselage center section had a darker hue than the front or empennage.  I ran into this myself quite a bit.

Can anyone tell me how to duplicate the "gi" layer in the paintkit?  Is this a gradient layer or a color?  All I know is that it wreaks havoc on matching colors from front to back.

Dave,

Where do you review your repaints in? I use fsrepaints from abacus, but some of the aircrafts are distorted due to the animated parts.
