Autobrakes on landing
Dec 14th, 2009 at 12:26pm
Print Post
Hi!
Anyone got working autobrakes on landing? No matter if i hand-fly or autofly the approach the autobrakes switch to "disarm" when the main gear touches the ground.
RTO on takeoff activates when pulling back the throttles to idle.

Greetings

I haven't noticed any problems with the auto brakes at all.  Make sure when you touch down that you aren't manually braking because as soon as you press the trigger for the manual breaks, the auto brakes will automatically disarm.  As for the RTO setting, what you typed is what is supposed to happen.  RTO is the Rejected Take-off setting and if you are above a certain power setting (as per take-off thrust setting) and you pull your throttles to idle, the Auto-brakes are going to activate.  That is how they are designed. As for the regular settings, if your not triggering the manual brakes on landing as you touch down, and your auto brakes are just dis-arming, you may want to issue a ticket or try re-installing the product as it will run a repair if the installer missed something during the initial installation process.

Hi Daniel!
Thank you for your post. RTO is working fine, landing autobrake not, is what i wanted to say.
I got the 757 since 4.1 and installied it several times on Win Vista and Win 7 systems. Everything else functions.
When do your autobrakes activate? When the main gear touches the ground or the nose gear?

According to the manual auto braking occurs when:
- Both main gear are on the ground.
- Both throttles are at idle.
- Wheel spinup occurs.
- IRS pitch is 1 degree or less. If pitch is not met, up to 8 second delay in braking can occur.

If there is anyone else who can confirm the working autobrakes i will stop to complain.

Greetings
Nepo

Yes, same here. RTO works fine but Autobrake dont work. With touchdown the switch disarms.

Sounds like you might have a controller signal spiking issue.  If you are using rudder pedals, you can try disconnecting them before landing to see if the autobrakes work when the rudder pedals are unable to cause a spike while unplugged.  If this works, try increasing the null zone of the rudder pedals to about 15% to 20%.  A registered version of FSUIPC will smooth out controller spikes as well.

Hi!
I tested it -  unplugged both rudder pedals and joystick on an ILS autoland approach.
The autobrakes deactivated as soon as the main gear touched the ground.  Cry

audiohavoc, your autobrakes work well?
Any other hint?

My work fine.  Not sure what else to try.  Have you tried reinstalling the 757 as an administrator?

I made a clean reinstall of the 757 as admin. (deleted old folders etc.)
Still the autobrakes switch to disarm when the main gear touches the ground“.  Embarrassed
My FSX install is quite new too (Win 7 64-bit) and i got no aircraft of other developers installed. Only the 727 & 767.
Anyone got a idea what to try?

Edit: Just tested the 767-300. Its the same. The autobrake disarms on touchdown.

Sorry for getting on this older thread ...

Same problem here on 757 (4.4) and 767 (1.4): Autobrakes are set but not working on rollout, no difference if landing manually or Autoland ... they disengage at touchdown.

Any other tips or cues then reinstalling are welcome  Smiley

Edited: Must have been my throttle setup and handling that triggers the disengage action. The throttles must be at "idle" when touching down to enable a correct function of the system. Any forward movement and you disable it.
Reverse isn't a problem then of course.

Mine work nearly all the time for both the 757 (4.4) and 767 (1.4). Only once in about the last 15 or so flights have I had them switch off when the wheels touched the ground. And that was in the 757.

I try not to turn on the Autobrakes until I have slowed to about Vref +30 and my flaps are at my chosen landing configuration in the FMC. e.g. In the FMC I have chosen 20/140, I won't turn them on until my plane is flying at 20/170. This seems to work for me.

As I said in 2010, for 757 v4.4, and 767 v1.4, it worked nearly all the time, but with the latest versions (757 v4.6, and 767 v1.5), they now work all the time. Undecided

Edit. The forum is very quiet nowadays, but I'm sure it will pick up once the new aircraft gets released, next year (hopefully). Wink

But it's not working for me? Literally bought it two days ago, and it doesn't work.

Just done some more tests and RTO doesn't engage when I pull thrust to idle on takeoff and engage reverse thrust. Also every single time I land the aircraft bounces off the runway (none of my others do that, it's not my landing!).

Just tried it on a default airport runway (not addon scenery) - again, touchdown descent rate of less than 217fpm and actually the brakes DO engage for a split second but then as the aircraft inevitably bounces, they disarm. Sometimes I don't even see them engage
