How do you startup from cold and dark?
I have attempted to load the cessna, shutdown, then switch to the 757. However there are some switches on the overhead panel that are on.
Please advise. Thanks..

Just start the plane with engine and power running then quickly :

ctrl + ; (parking brake)
Shift + F1 (Engines cut off)
Shift + M (All avionics/power off)

That take you 2 secs Smiley

Or...
some little changes if you wouldn't like any extra manipulations every time after new flight loading Smiley

Open file FLTSIM.FLT (via Notepad) in your FS root/flights/other directory, scroll down and make some changes, such as:

[Engine Parameters.1]
ThrottleLeverPct=0.000000
PropellerLeverPct=0.000000
MixtureLeverPct=0.000000
Pct Engine RPM=0.000000
LeftMagneto=False
RightMagneto=False
GeneratorSwitch=True
CowlFlapPct=0.000000
FuelPumpSwitch=False
CarbHeat/DeiceSwitch=False

[Systems]
BatterySwitch=False
AvionicsSwitch=False
StructuralDeiceSwitch=False
PropDeiceSwitch=False

Save and close file.
Thats all, enjoy C&D every time  Cool

Well, I made the aircraft cold and dark manually (switching everything off and making sure everything is shutdown by hand), saved the flight as default and then on the create a flight menu, just choose a different destination, fuel, weather, time etc.

Hey Phoenix, thank you for that Smiley. The not being able to easyly set CS aircraft to C&D has always been a detraction to me when chosing an AC to fly.

IM supprised nobody here has made use of your fix.

Works great with no side affects to report Cheesy.

May i add if your not using the default MSFS flight location as your default.

then the FLT file you need to change is in your, My Documents\Flight Simulator Files.

Hi,

     I have followed the instructions to the letter to maintain a CD situation, rechecking shows that all the items are as in the post. On initiating FS9 I find that the engines are still running as normal. As I say I have changed all the items in FS Root/flights/other. Still not Cold and Dark.

    Any suggestions please. Sad

For FSX I use the following for Cold/Dark Cockpit:

CTRL+. (period) = Parking Brake
CTRL+SHIFT+F1 = Idle Cutoff <-- stops all engines, cold dark
CTRL+M = Master Battery/Alternator Switch, as required

Check out Ray Ray's complete helpful series of videos on procedures for the Captain Sim 757/767 (all recorded in 1080p):
