Wing views from inside the Virtual Cabin

Has anyone got the settings for viewing the wings from the aircraft interior though the cabin windows, similar to this screenshot on the CS Website?

Thanks in advance.  Cheesy

I just use my ctl, shift, enter, backspace combos to "walk," "move over" and "sit down" and then you can always look around and zoom in or back.  Navigating the 3D cabin is something you'll want to get comfortable doing.

Wingtip lights are misaligned from inside, though, on mine.

I know how to get to the inside window view. However, if there is a view you like, is their a way to set it as a view point so as to have it rather than the default wing view?

Robert

That's fine, but I'd rather have pre-set views, particularly for screenshots and videos that I do.

I'll have a go at working it out myself, and may post any results here.

You would need to create a "CameraDefinition" in the aircraft.cfg to get a preset view.

If you have Flight Simulator X Deluxe witch includes the SDK it is explained in the SDK help file. You would need to install the SDK and I would recommend installing ALL the SDK updates up to SP2/Acceleration.

I have added extra camera views in quite a few of the default aircraft as well as addon aircaft.

Another thing I do is increase the Pan views from the normal setting which takes a while to get up to speed. This means that all my views (except the ones that are a fixed view) pan at the same rate.

The lines I add are in bold:-

[CameraDefinition.001]
Title = "Captain Seat"
Guid = {8ff6c134-098d-409f-baec-caba3f683f98}
Origin = Virtual Cockpit
MomentumEffect = YES
SnapPbhAdjust = Swivel
SnapPbhReturn = False
PanPbhAdjust = Swivel
PanPbhReturn = False
Track = None
ShowAxis = YES
AllowZoom = TRUE
InitialZoom = .4
SmoothZoomTime = 2.0
ZoomPanScalar = 1.0
ShowWeather = Yes
XyzAdjust = TRUE
ShowLensFlare=FALSE
Category = Cockpit
PitchPanRate=30
HeadingPanRate=75
PanAcceleratorTime=0
InitialXyz=0.0, 0.0, 0.0
InitialPbh=5, 0, 20
xyzRate=0.5

The InitialXyz=0.0, 0.0, 0.0 is the distance (up/down, left/right, forward/backward) from the default Virtual Cockpit view, the view that you get when you press F9.

From the SDK:-

Quote:
“XYZ” value types denote a set of three numeric values expressed as a comma-separated string in the configuration file (for example: InitialPbh=0, 10, -40). Each value can be positive or negative and there must be a space between each comma and the following value.

EDIT: Backup the original aircraft.cfg before making any modifications. Just in case!

Hope this helps you out.

Mark

Thanks Mark.

I had been tinkering with adding a camera definition but the XYZ values were eluding me until you explained them  Wink

Nice, I usually do my own sets too... It seems you have the same tastes in the types of views and also the zoom factor that I like... So I will be copying these...!  Smiley

You just saved me a little work!  Hehehe...

I think the forum Gods should make this a sticky, no?

Thanks!

Glad I could help out.

As you will surely know, flilot, the hardest thing is finding those elusive InitialXyz numbers. It takes a lot of time and effort to get them exactly as you want them.

Those views look awesome! You've done a wonderful job and I will use them in my 767. Thanks very much for being willing to share them with us.

If you are willing to pay for dbs studios walk and follow you can easily set and save the views you like to any aircraft while running fsx. You can use the software just to roam freely in the fs world as well but I bought it just for changing views. And if an aircraft dosn't have enough camera views to add more I'll just cut camera views from the default 737 cfg and  paste them to the aircraft I want and then use walk and follow to adjust and save the camera views as I want.

Hi Carl
Thanks for these, but need a bit more help. Have copies these into my cfg file, but when I select the view I don't see a Wing, only fresh air.
Do I need to add something else, somewhere else

Many thanks

Open the ACE for the 767. Select a 767-300GE/RR/PW (if you only have the 767-300, you won't need to do that) and remove the checkmark (tick) from the box beside Flight Deck Only.
