Title: GSX
Post by reddishknight on Jan 2nd, 2018 at 3:47am
Has anyone developed gsx? I made a gsx file that might be useful or even be included in the next version. No idea how to send it and I don't want to host it.

GSX will soon be updated or you can configure it yourself.

Um I configured gsx already but have no where to share it. As per pfpx I have no idea about creating or implementing it.

File is here. (https/nofile.io/f/rOFjwqmyucr/GSX+CS757+config+files.zip) Change the name to gsx.cfg and then move it to the simobjects/airplanes/cs757 folder. Or manually transfer the numbers over. They should line up pretty well. As per cues, the service doors R1 and R3 are set to no cue unless someone can figure out how to set up custom code for it.

Title: GSX config for Captain Sim 757
Post by AndersFG on Jan 7th, 2018 at 10:35am
Hi all,

I know this is a ong shot, but has anyone managed to create a GSX config file for this plane?
I'm getting weird allignments with SODE jetways.
I haven't tried the default ones - but I guess, that it's a misconfiguration of the entries somewhere...

Could anybody be of assistance?

Never mind... I've fixed it, by creating my own GSX.cfg file.
Looks nice.

Post by jalbino59 on Jan 10th, 2018 at 2:46pm
C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes.

In that folder, if they are not already there, you have to create 2 new folders

\CS_B757-200-III_PW2037
\CS_B757-200-III_PW2040

Take the gsx files for each variant and just drop them into their respective folders. then rename each one to"gsx.cfg". Click ok if you get a windows caution about changing the file extension and thats it.  I would post images of the results but the forum doesn't allow me.

Has anyone got a gsx config for the RRs and the PW with a readme please.

Title: Re: GSX
Post by Ryz on Aug 21st, 2018 at 4:24am
I'm not sure about the RR but the PW has an internal gsx profile. If theres not one for the RR its not that hard to do by yourself. Just use the door codes from the PW and change some things in the aircraft editor. I don't have the RR yet but afaik there shouldn't be too many changes to the exterior model other than the engines. I dont think theres any door changes so should be as simple as a copy paste of the values.

If you dont see the PW in gsx then update the addon. Its definitely there.

Title: Re: GSX
Post by Ryz on Aug 27th, 2018 at 12:58am
I made a profile for the RR. I don't have one for the 4D but I'll explain how to do it yourself. It's very simple.
https://mega.nz/#!4wtxyApS!uh09HM3gyN455UAJrYaYzPyaz5KOHUmGMn-Uj0LmrBw

That's for the regular one. Doing one for the 4D is very simple.
Install like any other gsx profile. pretty sure its documented in the gsx manual.

First open the sim and load the PW 4D. Open the GSX aircraft configuration. Change any of the values, save, then change back and save again. Load the RR 4D then change any of the values save then close sim. Then go to C:\Users\(yourusername)\AppData\Roaming\virtuali\Airplanes and open the PW 4D folder. Copy the gsx.cfg file. Paste it into the RR 4D folder and overwrite the one there and you're done.

If you're not sure the 4D folders are the same as the normal except at the end it has _4D.

idk if its done differently in P3D4 as I don't have it but probably not. That profile was made for FSX. Could be different in P3D4 I'm not sure.

Title: 757 - GSX
Post by karlt on Nov 23rd, 2018 at 2:06pm
I'm having a problem with the latest GSX updates and Captain Sim 757 III. For some strange reason this is the only aircraft it affects. I will load the aircraft cold and dark then start using checklists and pushback as normal but right before I start the engines I lose ATC and unable to start the engines. I've started the engines just fine without GSX, but the GSX and the 757 are the only aircraft that reacts like this. GSX is fine with every other aircraft except this one. I'm sending the same message to FSDT :-/ also. Any insight is appreciated.

I'm only having problems with the last GSX update I installed (that I know of). I keep getting a message in FSX-SE, and P3Dv4, that the couatl engine hasn't started. I did as it said by making sure my AV wasn't blocking it, but I still get the error. I'm about to check something else with the 757 III in FSX-SE, so I'll see if I have the problems you have reported, and update with how it goes.

From the previous post... no help at all from GSX or Captain Sim... This is the only aircraft this problem occurs.. I narrowed it down.. when I request loading of passengers GSX cuts out ATC totally. Then I'm unable to start the engines. There's no problem at all when I don't use GSX. Somebody, anybody? >:(

GSX doesn't cause the ATC to stop working for me, and nor does it stopping me from satarting the engines, while the pushback is in progress.
Sorry,  but I have no idea why you're having this problem.

After much research I may have a solution as to why ATC and the engines won't start...Is there a limit to the APU run time? I start the APU (not ground power) after loading cold and dark. after say twenty minutes, I'm not finished programing, GSX etc.. the APU run light is still illuminated but ATC is gone so the engines don't start. This is a dumb question, but how (and how long) can I use external power before switching to the APU? On some add ons the APU run time seams to be unlimited or an actual external power unit can be seen (animated) externally.

Title: Re: GSX
Post by Markoz on Jan 2nd, 2019 at 11:20am
I don't know how long the APU power lasts as I've never used it long enough to find out, but it should last as long as the APU is running.

Maybe you should do what I do. I use Ground Power, and External Air, until I'm ready to do the pushback, and engine start. I start the APU, then request the pushback, and start the engines during the pushback.

Title: GSX Issues
Post by Matthew Kitchen on Jan 7th, 2019 at 6:21pm
I'm having a few issues with GSX with my CS 757-200. When I want to use GSX for my aircraft, the programming of where everything is doesnt match. For example, when the stairs extend to the door, instead of stopping at the bottom of the door they stop extending about half way up the door and it doesnt match. Wonder if anyone has a patch so that it corrects this issue :)

Title: Re: GSX Issues
Post by Markoz on Jan 8th, 2019 at 1:48am
Ahhh. It only happens on the RR model for me!

On checking in the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes\CS_B757-200-III_RB535C, there is a gsx.cfg file there. In fact, the CS_B757-200-III_RB535C is the only aircraft listed, even though I have tried different RR versions. If I use a different RR version, the alignment of the stairs is even worse. :(

Anyway. To fix this problem, you're going to have to do the alignment yourself, unless someone has already done that, and is willing to share their gsx.cfg files.

Please read this whole post.

I posted my RR gsx entry. Are you using the one I posted?
I know that my gsx cfg file works in fsx.

If you're using mine make sure the folder gsx.cfg is in matches the folder name in the simobjects/airplanes folder. You can check this very quickly. Load the aircraft in question and open the gsx aircraft editor. At the top it'll say one of three things. I dont remember the exact wording but you can figure it out.
1, using data from aircraft.cfg(you do not want this)
2, using gsx internal data(fsdt made this and could possibly be bugged)
3, using data from %appdata%(I dont remember the exact path)

The first one will ALWAYS be broken. that one won't have the door codes or proper alignment.
The second one was made by fsdt and they could have made a mistake. You can override it by making your own or placing a gsx.cfg file in the correct folder.
The third is a user created one.

Keep in mind that internal gsx aircraft data are not kept in the appdata folder. They're probably stored elsewhere or are embedded in the actual program.

You can create the folders in the appdata gsx folder. But they HAVE to match the simobjects/airplanes folder.

Each aircraft has to have its own entry. Mark, the reason that the others are worse is because they are most definitely using aircraft.cfg data. Every single aircraft has to have it's own gsx.cfg. some are handled internally. but the ones that are not will have to have it's own file. Luckily all of the 757s share the door placement and door codes. The 4d will have an extra entry but it too is shared among the other 4d. So you only need to do it twice. Then just create the folder in the appdata folder and copy the gsx.cfg folder from one a paste it into it's own folder. Again the folder HAS to match the simobjects/airplanes folder. The reason the PW works is because its supported internally. The RR is not.

As for the question about apu and engine start.  Make sure theres air going to the apu. Also make sure that the needle is around 40. You can turn the packs off temporarily. if there's not enough air the engines wont start. Regarding the apu, the apu uses fuel. I'm pretty sure the fuel it uses is from the left and right tanks. If theres no fuel the apu wont start. Also I've noticed that if you change fuel amount while the apu is running it will cut off. Simply set the apu switch to off then start it again and it will work. The apu has no time limit. I've left it running on a 6 hour flight before. It will stay running until you turn it off or all the fuel is used.

Once I set up GSX for a specific aircraft/model, I always place the gsx.cfg in the actual aircraft folder in the sim.
i.e. D:\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200-III_RB535C

That's the old way of doing it. As far as I know that no longer works. At least it didn't last time I tried it. press the windows key and R at the same time and type in %appdata% and press enter. Go to the virtuali folder and open the airplanes folder. the airplane folders in there is where the gsx.cfg files go. If the airplanes folder doesn't exist you can create it then create the RR folde inside virtuali\airplanes if needed. You can also create the folder by opening the aircraft editor with the RR loaded and changing something.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you, been busy.

Title: Re: GSX
Post by Markoz on Jan 18th, 2019 at 1:54am
I still had only the one aircraft listed in the %AppData%\Virtuali\Airplanes (C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes) folder:

CS_B757-200-III_RB535C

It was only after using the GSX editor for the CS_B737-100 (P3Dv4), that that the CS_B737-100 folder appeared, so now I have two aircraft there.

After reading the instructions, I found the following:

GSX_manual.pdf, page 51

The GSX.CFG file

An airplane can be customized by creating a file named GSX.CFG, that needs to be placed
in the airplane Root folder, the same that contains the aircraft.cfg file. For
example, if you want to customize the default Boeing 747-400, you will have to create
a GSX.CFG file in the FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\B747_400 folder.

I know it says FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\B747_400 folder, but after moving the CS_B757-200-III_RB535C gsx.cfg from the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes\CS_B757-200-III_RB535C folder, to the D:\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200-III_RB535C folder, GSX worked fine with that model, like it had when the gsx.cfg was in the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes\CS_B757-200-III_RB535C folder. So I have to assume that it works the same as it used to.

you're right. they changed it since I last checked. It can now read from both airplane root and appdata folder. I just tested all 4 RRs in P3D4 and they work for me. I'll go ahead and upload an archive that has the folders with the gsx.cfg files. You can either extract them into the appdata folder or extract them into the simobjects folder. You could do both as well.

These files defintely work for me. I included the 4D as I did them before.

So open the zip, drag the folders into either the simobjects folder or the appdata airplanes folder. It has correct folder names so extracting directly to the simobjects folder is fine, just say yes if it asks to merge.

If you have any issues I'm not sure what to say as I just tested them. I suppose you could run the live updater and if that doesn't work I'm stumped. If all else fails, you could post on the GSX forums.

They will probably never support the RR internally. FSDT is annoying like that. They never supported the CS B773 so I had to make my own. And the 737 never got any support at all. It's weird. Not sure why FSDT does that.

It'd be nice if CS would include a gsx.cfg in their aircraft. It's not that hard to do. I'm not complaining, it'd just be nice so they can save people some time. Especially since they use custom doors so it can sometimes be a hassle to make it functional at all.

I find it interesting that you say they changed it since you last checked. I first bought GSX way back in Februray 2012, and the instuctions back then said it would read the gsx.cfg from either the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes folder, or the FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\AircraftName folder (and later on the P3D\SimObjects\Airplanes\AircraftName folder). So somewhere along the line, they changed it to only the Virtuali\Airplanes folder, then back to how it originally was, and is now. ;D

Once more that GSX addon is so utterly ridiculous in its behaviour. This must be the worst piece of add=on ever created!!

Last night I purchased the CS757-300 Expansion for P3Dv4.

Prior to that, when I called for the GSX catering trucks to service a 757-200, it did so perfectly, i.e. went to the correct service doors on the right-hand side.

Take a look at this latest farce from GSX ;D

Just about says it all that it does not recognise where the service doors on a Boeing 757-300 are!

Anyone else with the same issue?

Prior to that, when I called for the GSX catering trucks to service a 757-200, it did so perfectly, i.e. went to the correct service doors on the right-hand side.

Take a look at this latest farce from GSX ;D

Just about says it all that it does not recognise where the service doors on a Boeing 757-300 are!

Anyone else with the same issue?

A GSX aircraft configuration has to be made for the 757-300 as it was just released. GSX does not just automatically know where to put everything. This information either has to be made by FSDT and pushed via an update or created by a user and shared to the community.

I thought as it already knew what to do and where to go, perfectly, in the -200, and nothing has drastically changed maybe other than winglets, or overall length in the -300 but service doors are still in the same place, it'd still work as before.

Ah, well, will edit accordingly.

P3Dv4 comes with default jetways at some airports not all, but definitely no cargo loaders at any of its airports, so I am thinking that the issue 'divinglyc' and I have is GSX-related, except his is GSXii whereas mine was until that fix posted earlier today, GSXi

Their configs should be updated for the -300.
The -300 door heights are identical to the -200.

After running that latest Update in the link provided, please take a look where the GSX catering vehicles come to.

No way can 2 catering vehicles come to service a 757-300 side by side, completely ignoring the Aft section.

Not sure where the blame should be apportioned for this fiasco.

Got to C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\virtuali\Airplanes|create a folder of whatever 757-200/300 Freighter....................drop that GSX.cfg there.

Really surprised you do not know where to place them as they come with a full set of instructions.

As I seems to have 'lost/mislaid' the flash-drive I had it on, and am currently tied up with some other sim matters, why don't you pop over to the FSDT Forum and get it from there? It'll be quicker.

In P3Dv4.4, I called the GSX fuel truck, selected 50%, it removed my cargo, left the passengers, but the payload reverted to 0.0lbs, and the fuel remained at 100%. I had to remove all the passengers, re-add them and the cargo, then I selected 37.8 for the fuel to make it 50%.

In P3Dv3.4 it did the same thing. I haven't got time at the moment to try FSX-SE, but will try it later when I do have time.

Because of this, I won't be using the GSX refueling with the 757 III in P3D!

Fully agree with you Mark as I was doing a test flight from GCXO(Tenerife North) and did the CDU FMC bit first, and upon calling for the GSX fuel truck, voila! the Payload reverted to zero.

Something's screwed with GSX. Like you, will give it a miss calling for the Fuel Truck.

Title: Re: GSX
Post by Markoz on Sep 8th, 2019 at 2:53am
I guess I'm gonna have to reinstall GSX and do the gsx.cfg's for all of the 757 models. :O

My only concern with doing them, and sharing them, is that I tend to do them for my preferece with which doors get used, and if I do it for all the doors, some people will have to edit them to suit themselves anyway. Mind, that can be done using Notepad, and not GSX itself, so it shouldn't be too hard for most.

Title: Re: GSX
Post by Markoz on Sep 9th, 2019 at 5:27pm
Okay. I've done the GSX settings for ALL of the 757-200PW Base Pack Models, 757-200RR Expansion Models, 757-300 Expansion Models, and 757 Freighter Expansion Models).

These gsx.cfg's work for FSX, FSX-SE, P3Dv3, and P3Dv4 - which is just as well, as the aircraft model names are the same for all of those flight simulators, and I have the 757 III in all of them. :o

Now. I have included passenger exits Exit 1, Exit 2, and Exit 3, and in the gsx.cfg's for the passenger aircraft, and the gsx.cfg's are set to Exit 1 being the preferred exit. If you prefer Exit 2, then change this line in the gsx.cfg for that/those particular aircraft

from this:

preferredexit =  1

to this

preferredexit =  2

If you don't want a particular exit to be used, go to the MENU > Add-ons > GSX > Customize aircraft... and when the panel opens, click on the exit you don't want, and another box appears, click on the first at the box that says "Door with custom open/close checks", and select "No door at this position".
If you remove the PAX 1 entry, you might need to change the preferredexit =  1 to preferredexit =  2 in the gsx.cfg (found in %AppData%\Virtuali\Airplanes\<aircraft name here> (i.e. CS_B757-200-III_PW2037)), just in case GSX keeps wanting you to open the PAX 1 entry that you removed. The method for removing the passenger exits, applies to service doors if you don't want to use any/all of them.

With the 757 Freighter models, I have included PAX 1 on the forward port (left side) exit/entry, near the cockpit.
For the 757-200SF, I also included the forward starbort (right side) service door, which you can have removed if you don't want it.

As you can see, there are a lot of options to choose from, so I created the gsx.cfg's to cater for all of them, and changing them to suit yourselves it at your discretion. As long as you don't delete the zip file, or modify any of the .cfg's within the zip file, you can always unzip them again.

Did I do something wrong?  If so, could you please advise how what I should do with the download.

Title: Re: Freighter & GSX
Post by Markoz on Sep 14th, 2019 at 3:35am
I took a look at the GSX settings for the Main Cargo door, Forward Cargo door, and Aft Cargo door, and they are set correctly (see the attached image).

I pretty sure that what is happening, is that GSX has saved a gsx.cfg in C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes\CS_B757-200SF-III_RB535E4, and it's reading that gsx.cfg, and not the one you placed in the <FlightSimulator>\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200SF-III_RB535E4.

You need to either copy the gsx from <FlightSimulator>\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200SF-III_RB535E4 over to C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes\CS_B757-200SF-III_RB535E4, and overwrite that one.

Or... You can simoply delete the gsx.cfg in C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes\CS_B757-200SF-III_RB535E4, and then GSX will read the one that you extracted to <FlightSimulator>\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200SF-III_RB535E4

Markoz, can you kindly shed light on why this is happening using your GSX profiles for all CS757 variants, but I am only using the RR535E4B?

Jetway hood does not come all the way down
Cargo loaded comes to Exit 2 for a pax aircraft?
Low loaders other side do not line up with the cargo loading doors
